Already 19 rounds of post processing - @bambuka has definitely shown stamina. All loyal participants as well ;-))

New theme, new luck: darkness. I like it. I don't feel comfortable in bright light anyway, it's exhausting for the eyes and not very beneficial for not quite dewy faces ;-))

However, darkness seems to mean more to me than just the absence of light. Of course, it always represents the opposite of brightness, but behind it there are more levels that seem to me to be just as important if we want to thoroughly illuminate something like this (haha - there is a lot of scope for wordplay: to illuminate the darkness would indeed be its end, but shall nevertheless be our concern today ;-))

I am not the only one who associates darkness with something abysmal, gloomy, not cheerful. As I mentally continued this thread, it occurred to me where I would be staying this week and what I would find here as possible photo subjects. And now I've had a go....

Not only do I find it rather grim to collect such figures... Even their appearance does not strike me as pleasant, light or even cheerful. I see a sly, devious and distorted grin that looks very, very sinister to me. So the actual dark thing in this photo is not the background ;-))

There are lots of different types of snow globes. As an example, here is a rather classic version. Due to the reflectivity of the glass, beautiful effects can be achieved, despite the simplicity.

The photos are largely unedited; only in the first snow globe - without the flurry - have I increased the contrasts and added warmer colours.

Since the darkness was to a certain extent artificially created by roller shutters, I'll say goodbye to it and enter the bright day: see you!

Schon 19 Runden Post Processing – Ausdauer hat @bambuka auf jeden Fall bewiesen. Alle treuen Teilnehmer ebenfalls ;-))

Neues Thema, neues Glück: Dunkelheit. Mag ich. Ich fühle mich in grellem Licht ohnehin nicht wohl, es ist anstrengend für die Augen und wenig vorteilhaft für nicht mehr ganz taufrische Gesichter ;-))

Allerdings scheint mir Dunkelheit doch mehr zu bedeuten als nur die Abwesenheit von Licht. Natürlich stellt sie das immer das Gegenteil von Helligkeit dar, aber dahinter gibt es mehr Ebenen, die mir ebenso wichtig erscheinen, wenn wir so etwas gründlich beleuchten wollen (haha – hier bietet sich viel Spielraum für Wortwitz: die Dunkelheit zu beleuchten wäre tatsächlich ihr Ende, soll aber dennoch heute unser Anliegen sein ;-))

Nicht nur ich verbinde mit Dunkelheit etwas Abgründiges, Düsteres, nicht Heiteres. Als ich diesen Faden gedanklich weiterspann, fiel mir ein, wo ich mich in dieser Woche aufhalten werde und was ich hier als mögliche Fotoobjekte vorfinden würde. Und nun habe ich mich ausprobiert…

Nicht nur, daß ich es ziemlich düster finde, solche Figuren zu sammeln… Auch ihre Anmutung wirkt auf mich nicht angenehm, leicht oder gar fröhlich. Ich sehe ein durchtriebenes, hinterlistiges und verzerrtes Grinsen, das sehr, sehr düster auf mich wirkt. Das eigentlich dunkle auf diesem Foto ist also nicht der Hintergrund ;-))

Schneekugeln gibt es in allen möglichen Ausführungen. Beispielhaft hier eine eher klassische Variante. Durch die Reflexionsfähigkeit des Glases lassen sich, trotz der Schlichtheit, schöne Effekte erzielen.

Die Fotos sind weitgehend unbearbeitet; lediglich bei der ersten Schneekugel - ohne Gestöber - habe ich die Kontraste verstärkt und etwas wärmere Farbtöne unterlegt.

Da die Dunkelheit gewissermaßen künstlich erzeugt war durch Rolläden, verabschiede ich mich an dieser Stelle in den hellen Tag: wir sehen uns!
