Plenty of politics to get into there too! Probably best to avoid that - easiest way to lose friends is to talk about politics 😉 Which EU country are you from? My country was in the EU once but we have a gullible population that chose to believe the headline on a bus. A headline, which unsurprisingly turned out to be a lie.
I see the answer to my question now in your label. I went on holiday to the Black Sea Coast once. Made my way to Varna for a day and was told by the taxi driver "I guarantee somebody will try to sell you drugs" and no sooner had I got out of the taxi, somebody asked me "do you want drugs?"
You're absolutely right about the politics. Actually it's a nice test to have arguments and different opinions than your friends, that's one method I distinguish true friends from those, just passing by... ;)
Last year I spent about two weeks in England and Scotland, UK has really changed a lot. About two decades ago, I was working for a UK company and was traveling a lot, also living in London for few months since 1999. I was born in Bulgaria. Brexit is quite an interesting phenomenon to me, everyone I know and I spoke to, was against it and still, it happened after all.
Well, I'd avoid Black Sea holidays at all costs during the summers :D
Golden Sands and Sunny Beach are two sea resorts famous for the cheap alcohol (and all the other stuff/vice accompanying it :)))
Springs and autumns... absolutely different story, traveled there tens of times and still not enough...
I've never succeeded with that - especially recently so tend to leave it be. I've often said that my Nan's generation kept their opinions to themselves. My mum's generation shared their opinion when asked. My generation needs to impose their opinion upon others. It never ceases to amaze me how some people can have a strong opinion on something they admit to knowing nothing about.
Where did you live in London? I rented out my flat in Wimbledon to a Bulgarian couple. They racked up tens of thousands of pounds of debt (via various credit agreements) and then left the country. They always paid their rent on time though.
It was July 2007 that I was in Bulgaria. I don't remember it being too busy although I preferred to explore away from the resort, rather than spend my time on the beach. I went to Varna zoo and the monkey was playing with its bits...
And didn't appreciate the attention...

My company rented a house just across Cutty Sark, by the river, it was very close to the foot tunnel (is it still open, I remember there were some leaks back in 1999?). I recall the house had a small balcony over the water and I loved to greet the guys kayaking in the weekend days on high tides while having my cup of hot morning beverage :D
That experience with the Bulgarian couple... sounds so American, LOL. I believe after USA, UK is the second, well maybe the third country (after Germany) with the most Bulgarian immigrants.
Indeed. Especially, when it is about politics, everyone is getting even more radical. Like we like to joke about ourselves, in Bulgaria everyone has PhD in politics, football and sex :D I feel like we lost the ability to argue properly. It's as everyone is just laying our their own opinions and after hours of talks, the middle ground is still equally distant, right... I think those continuous wars around the world are the evidence for it all.
