Hello dear Steemians,

We will continue our trip in Münster, it is worth to have a long walk and visiting all the beauty of historical places. One of the popular places for tourists and young people is so called Castle or Schloss Münster, old building built between 1767 and 1787 in baroque style. Since 1954 it is a officially accommodated the University of Münster. As you can see during summer months in front of the building there is a night Cinema open air, usually starting 22:00 quite popular especially on hot days.

When continuing the trip, not so far from there is another church that is called St. Marien Überwasser Cathedral, this church was built in 1340. When you stand in front of it, it is noticeable how tall it is and how tiny we people are. The building is made of sand stone that is why every few years the sand stone is cleaned, last time it was last year. I love that combination of soft beige sandstone and red-orange tiles of roof.

Fascinating fact about Münster: the city has more bookshops than casinos and pubs put together...!

Faszinierender Fakt über Münster: die Stadt hat mehr Buchhandlungen als Spielcasinos und Kneipen zusammen...!

Yes, that is why many Students who study in Muenster love to remain here after their years. Luckily, the city cares about the image of the city and its old city center.

Wow, I lived in Europe for about 4 years…and the one thing that I miss is this old, magnificent, awe-inspiring architecture. Because in the US, we don't have anything like this. Maybe we have similar (I am using this term loosely) architecture (churches) on the East Coast (New York, Virginia, Washington D.C., etc…and maybe in different spots in the US where the Spanish built Catholic Missions in Arizona and California, but I haven't seen anything here in the US that gave me that awe-inspiring feeling like the buildings I saw in Europe.

Amazing photos @stef1.

I can understand what you mean very well, some of my colleagues had couple of years in NZ and Australia but despite of having an opportunity to stay there, they came back saying that they miss the old architecture of Edinburgh. The same for me, I love to come back to Germany and visit again and again the same places :)

These imposing edifices are so good in resisting the test of time, some are even built a few centuries before the Spaniards discovered the country that I live in @stef1, thank you for sharing. 😀👍

Sometimes I wonder how good the people knew their field of work and how skillful they were to be able to create such beauty :)

Always fascinated by gothic architecture.

The same for me, I always wonder why the most beautiful part of the decoration is on the upper part of the buildings :)

That is not innocent. All the decoration is coldly calculated. Don't forget that "higher is closer to heaven".
