Holiday to South England: Bournemouth
Last couple of days we are on a little trip to South of England, the place on coast called Bournemouth, you might have heard the name. We actually thought that it might be warm here because in compare to Scotland this very south part of UK.
We decided to travel with car, because there is no direct plane and train but also with train it is too expensive.
On other hand we have noticed that it is 8 hours to drive with car very long way, but still it is the most convenient way. We had a good trip but my hubby was tired and till afternoon when we arrived.
This morning we decided to go to beach and noticed a nice pier just next to park place. Before entering the place we have seen small information about the place.
Just before entering the beach we have noticed this place with some snacks and information.
*We have left early in the morning that is why it was not very crowded. Here is the Pier, I like that it is made of timber, somehow reminded me old time from movies. I could imagine the ladies with umbrellas and little dogs on a leash.
Maybe next time we will go for walk in the evening or night to see when lamp posts are on, to see the reflection of light in water. Today it was something between low and high tide, the waves were not too strong, of course, it would be more spectacular to see more waves but may be next time.
This is the square observation stage, a lot of sun and noise of crushing waves. Absolutely beautiful and refreshing.
Next moment when we wanted to go back, we noticed early morning joggers, that was a group of people who might also preparing for some marathon or so. In my opinion it is the best running on a beach, fresh air and actually after run you can cool down entering cold sea water.
After being on Pier we then started our walk along the beach, beautiful dry fine sand and fresh wind. If you are interested in our further journey keep an eye on our blog.
Bournemouth is a fairly nice town, as I recall... spent a good bit of time there while I was in boarding school. My parents kept a flat in nearby Ferndown, but we went to Bournemouth quite often for the shops, and to get to the train station.
Although some call it "the English Riviera" I don't remember it being particularly warm and sunny!
Enjoy your stay!
Yes, the coastal area is awesome, also living there is extremely expensive, I do not envy people living here. I believe living here one can make themselves a nice home with Palm trees and sometimes swimming pool, it is a bit mild weather in winter. Ferndown looks nice too and not so far, maybe next time we will visit it too.
As I read through the post, I just saw myself having a little tour at the Bournemouth beach.
I will show my kid sis this post to read up. She just arrived UK newly and has been complaining that besides her work, she has no were to go to and it has been making her bored..
I think she might find this place useful… and hopefully she doesn’t have to spend 8hrs going there too…
Nice that you like this place, UK has huge territory and of course, it depends where she lives. I hope she will enjoy her work there.

I'm going to visit my son tomorrow. I need to take my granddaughter home. I will need to drive 1,230 km. The estimated travel time is 16 hours.
