Garden planting: strawberries, potatoes and carrots
Hello my dear Steemians,
it is time for our plants to grow, since last two weeks it is noticeable how quickly they grow and every day there are some changes. Those of you who visited our blog couple of weeks ago know that we started to plant some berries and vegetables, just to see if anything will grow, of course, something will grow but we are expecting proper products of our work like many strawberries and of course, real potatoes later of the year.
How everything is started |
---|
About a month ago we bought those boxes where one can fill with soil and also plant whatever you like. We have decided to buy two of those boxes and after working hard for two months.
Here are how they looked before we planted out young plants, we also choose nice sunny place.
After the first green leaves started to come through we noticed that birds started to visit our boxes and to pick there around especially where we planted seeds of carrots. That is why we spanned a nets over one of the boxes and will do the other later.
Here in one half you can see new potato plants they are very juicy and green.
In first half you can see three little stones that I specially put to know where exactly we have planted the seeds and you can see little green paths leading from the stone to the wall.
We will see how it is looking in next couple of months.
Thank you, friend!

We've been really thinking about growing our own food. We already have a rain cistern, and I don't want to waste the water when it is full, so I've been thinking about using it to grow food…either fruit trees or plants.
Seeing yall do this, creates some motivation in me.
Rain cistern sound very good, we also were thinking about that, in spring and autumn we have a lot of rain but in summer it becoming hot and often it is not allowed to water plants when it is too hot.
As to vegs, yes, it is good to try to plant some it is satisfying to see when the first green leaves come through.
They are gradually growing and this is really cool to witness their growth rate. They have favourable growing conditions surrounding them
Yes, we are so happy that there are so many of plants and they all look healthy, even that is already very positive.
Yes, it is rally nice to see that plants are still looking great and have new leaves and flowers. This time we were lucky that when we bought plants they were already bigger and stronger.
Spring and summer time is the best to have some work in garden and if we can combine work and use of garden in the way of getting some self-grown stuff then it is the best.
Hopefully we will see first fruits in about two months :)
OK I will hope by fruits. Nice job.
Yes, thanks, hopefully there will be some soon :)
We usually plant potatoes on May 9th or 10th. But not this year. Why? I'm going to write a post about it now.
We just planted when weather was warm so hope it will have enough time by autumn :)
👍👍👍
How wonderful, those boxes look like a good option for planting. At home I have made a space but with building blocks, however, I must make some arrangements before planting. I like the idea of the boxes, it came to mind to make them a little smaller and separate the crops.
The raised beds for vegetables and fruits are very good high for snails and also for cats, but we have to cover with nets against birds :)

Hi Neha, it is really nice to hear from you again and to know that you are busy but also that you are doing well. The weather here is getting better so we spend much time outside and of course, looking after our garden. Will see you around :)
Thanks stef will definitely be in touch and I am trying to sort my schedule and spare some time for Steemit,😊.
Have a great day
It's beautiful to grow fruits and vegetables! I tried with strawberries years ago, but the freezing in a particularly cold winter killed them.
Yes, strawberries like mild weather which is typical here in Scotland, summer is short but still it is enough for strawberries, so this time we hope to see many more of them :)
Ok, thank you, so I'll wait the cold season to end to try again. I'd like to try again to grow strawberries...
