Eid MUBARAK/ HAPPY EID

in WORLD OF XPILARlast month

For those unfamiliar with the concept of Eid ul-Fitr among Muslims, it marks the end of Ramadan with the sighting of the Shawwal moon, signaling the arrival of Eid. It's an uncertain affair, as we're never sure if Eid will be the next day or not. Moon sightings from across the country are observed and evaluated, a process that can last until midnight.

As for yesterday, Eid was announced around 8:30 pm, but I'm not sure of the exact time because I had heard some news suggesting that Eid might be the next day. So, I didn't have the luxury of sitting in front of the television to listen to updates.

So in short, the moon (Cresent) was sighted last night, and we had 29 fasting days instead of 30. We couldn't see it as it was cloudy at our place! Plus it was very teeny tiny 'hilal' (baby crescent).
This kind of unexpected Eid always adds an extra element of surprise and, of course, a list of chores that need to be completed before morning.

I've been too busy since last night, but this post is mandatory. I wouldn't want to wish Eid after it's passed. Although we have three days of celebration, the first one is always extra special.

So below is sneak peak into my Eid celebration, mostly the preparations.

The sweets preparation:

This is the mandatory sweet for Eid: Vermicelli pudding.

Custard trifle: The jelly refused to set, resulting in a homogeneous layer instead of cubes.

This was followed by a rushed visit to the bangles stalls. I don't know why, but we always put this off until the last day. But it's always fun—the rushing, the chores, and the last-minute decisions.

Mine's half done as it was already 2 am, and the tattoo artist had to leave after applying mehndi/henna on @event-horizon's hand. She should share her picture in the comments now.

That's my whirlwind post! Well, it was put together in bits and pieces. And I may have accidentally scorched the lunch a little bit in the process. So now I'm rushing back to the kitchen to see if I can salvage the situation.

A very happy Eid to everyone celebrating! 🎉
Yours,
@soulfuldreamer

P.S.: The photographs aren't aligned left or right, and there isn't much formatting because, you know, it's Eid today!

Thank you for sending the henna artist... I feel guilty of stealing her from you in the middle.

I was thinking to write about Eid but you have already beautifully covered all the details.

Happy Eid.

P.S. See you at Eid dinner tonight. ❣️

I feel guilty of stealing her from you in the middle.

You didn't steal. My offer was out of love for our friendship. Don't ever feel guilty for that :)

And no, you should definitely write a post about eid. The more, the merrier!!!

:)))

I will try to write about today's activities which I'm afraid are not interesting at all. 🙃

Wow!
Happy Eid… :-))

Thank you :)

Good to see you 😊
