Mauritian Ziziphus also known as PONSIGUÉ (Venezuela), Badari (Sanskrit), Kul (Bengali), Ber (Hindi), Dongs, Boroi, Bor, Beri, Bidara, Indian plum, Mauritian Jujube is a species of tropical fruit tree, belonging to the family Rhamnaceae.
It is a thorny evergreen shrub. The fruit is a drupe of variable size and shape, oval, ovate, oblong or round. The pulp is white, when it is a little below maturity and the fruit is juicy and aromatic.
It is a fruit similar to the plum, whose color ranges from green to yellow, orange and reddish when ripe. Its interior is white like cotton and tends to yellow. It is a rather fragrant fruit, although it has a mild flavor, it is usually used to eat directly or macerated.
