Impressionist Artist İbrahim Çallı - Club100 (348 STEEM Power Up)

Hi Art Lovers, I hope everything is alright. When I visited the Ankara Museum of Painting and Sculpture, I took a photo in front of the statue of the impressionist artist İbrahim Çallı in front of the museum. He is one of the important painters so I will talk about him and his art :)

Çallı is an artist that I love both for his paintings and for his determination and never giving up on his passion. Before he became a painter, he worked in many jobs from newspaper delivery to court crier. Whenever he has time, he paints, which is his greatest passion. This is his self-portrait.

He had the chance to show his paintings to Şeker Ahmed Pasha, one of the most famous painters of that period, and was invited to the Academy of Fine Arts. Thus, he was able to turn to his main area of interest. He graduated in 1906. He studied in Paris for four years. He worked as an academician at Istanbul Fine Arts Academy. During his education in Paris, he was influenced by libertarian artistic movements. He described this free spirit by making nude pictures when he came to his country.

He painted portraits of well-known women of the period. He taught his students this libertarian spirit at the university. This change in painting at that time was called the Çallı Generation.

So what is the Çallı Generation? The paintings were made only in closed workshops by looking at the photographs. The Çallı generation brought the painters out of the workshops. With their paints and canvases, the painters painted showing daily life on the street, by the sea, and inside the houses. This was a great innovation for Turkish painting. The woman in the picture on the left is the daughter of one of the well-known families of the period. She is Hasene Cimcoz. She was pictured with her dog Nana.

Çallı's painting The Woman Smells a Rose was affected by the painter John William Waterhouse's The Soul Of the Rose.

Çallı has painted many successful and famous people. The portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, is one of the most important. Çallı's portrait of İsmet İnönü is quite famous. İnönü was a colonel during the Ottoman period. He became a general in the Republican period and later the Chief of the General Staff. He is the first Prime Minister and second President of the Republic of Turkey.

He liked to paint roses, magnolias, chrysanthemums, tulips, hyacinths. He usually painted these flowers in porcelain or crystal vases. He generally drew with oil on canvas.

I have shown the paintings of people sitting in a tea garden in the Emirgan grove and enjoying a picnic on the island. He often painted the daily life of people in the open air.

Just like flower painting, he is also interested in fruit paintings and there are many fruit paintings. He pioneered the widespread use of these colors by using soft and light colors in his works.

He painted a wide range of people with different social and cultural statuses. Çallı would draw the pattern with the tip of a brush, unprepared and without a sketch. The painting below is an example of this type of hasty work.

Çallı has become an unforgettable artist with his nice conversation, witty, whip-smart and sincere character. I really like how he depicts forms in his works with warm and cold colors rather than lines.
