Wood-Burned Art: Horned Owl (Club100)

Greeting steemians! I'm back for another round of awesome pyrography - writing with fire. Being a pyrographer is like being a pyromaniac, only instead of burning down buildings, I'm burning art! Today I'm going to showcase a piece of art I meant to over the Halloween weekend but couldn't find the images. I'm still in the slow process of migrating all my images from far too many sources to Imgur. Enjoy this happy midnight owl!

I really enjoyed making this piece. It did take awhile to darken the background. Like my last post, I went the long route by darkening the background with my burning pens instead of a blowtorch because there were too many details that could have been ruined using the blowtorch.

Sometimes, as an artist, you are not going to enjoy certain aspects of your creations. Fortunately on this piece, I really liked how a lot of the details turned out. I really enjoyed the moon in particular. I love a full moon. So pretty. I also liked the lantern. It looked nice and I didn't need to worry about the time-consuming nature of blackening the background around it. The only aspect I wasn't fond of honestly wasn't a mistake or, really, anything I could do much about. That was the areas around the spider and it's web. I could have blackened the area and painted those features but I didn't like how I thought it would look since I was already painting the stars and meteors.

All this on a nice slice of live-bark wood makes for a lovely piece of art for any space! Thanks for checking out my latest art showcase. I have plenty of things in the works and plenty of former projects left to showcase so stay tuned!
