A visit to Osaka Castle (大阪城, Ōsakajō)

in WORLD OF XPILAR4 years ago (edited)

Hello friends, Hajimemashite,😃🙇
I am Narthana Sathsara from Sri Lanka and I live in Japan since last year.
So, it is a habitual part of my life visiting amazing and beautiful places in Japan. Nowadays I live in Osaka. I came to Osaka last February and before that, I stayed in Tokyo. This is my first post in this community and I hope to bring you the beauty of amazing Japan.

So, last March, one of my friend and I decided to visit this magnificent place, Osaka Castle. 🏯 It only takes about 50 minutes from my apartment to the castle including 19 minutes riding in a train. The nearest station to Osaka castle in my railway line is Tanimachiyonchome Station. From that station, there is 1.4km to the castle by walking. Osaka Museum of History is also located near to the castle.
After walking we reached the castle area.

Talking about the castle,
The construction was started in 1583 and it was the land of former Ishiyama Honganji Temple. The leader Toyotomi Hideyoshi planned castle to be the new centre of Japan under his rule. After his death, Tokugawa troops attacked and destroyed the castle. In 1620, Tokugawa Hidetada rebuilt the castle. In 1997, the castle was repaired and now it has even an elevator to access easily. Inside the castle, you can see the castle`s history and now it is a museum.
By the time we visited there, it was corona warning time so we could not enter the castle inside and it was closed without opening day. So decided to walk around the castle garden and enjoy the surrounding. The castle tower is surrounded by secondary citadels, gates, stone walls and moats.

The garden (Nishinomaru Garden) is a hot spot for Sakura viewing in Osaka.🌸🌸 There are about 600 cherry trees but at that time flowers had not fully bloomed. We should have waited a few more weeks to go there. But in the sakura season, the garden requires an admission fee (200 Yen).

And also there is a time capsule that has been placed in front of the castle. The dates are to open after 5000 years and only 49 years passed by today. Sounds like we have to wait little more to see what is inside.

More information, if you are willing to visit there,
Admission fee to the castle 600 Yen. However, you do not have to take any tickets to visit the castle garden and walk around.
Castle is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. (Maybe varied in holidays and for any other special reason)
It is closed from December 28th to January 1st and the best time to visit there is in the middle of April.

So if you are ever in Osaka, do not forget to visit the amazing historical place.

This is me

Thank you very much.
Have a nice day.
