My trek to Annapurna Base Camp by @sampu - Part 7 - (PowerUp 100%)

I couldn't sleep the previous night. Even was unable to have my dinner properly. Headache, Nausea and tremendous uneasiness. I have well understood that it's noting but the most common issue in high altitude - the Acute Mountain Sickness or AMS.

I gained almost 1000 meter height in a day. Deurali was 3,229 meter. Annapurna Base Camp is 4,125 meter.

The best treatment for AMS is going down. But it is next to impossible to go down from Annapurna Base Camp to Macchapuchhare Base Camp. There was tremendous snow-fall. No pony or yak is allowed inside the Annapurna Sanctuary area.

The highest altitude in which I stayed earlier was Sandakphu (3636 meter). I have been to Chandrasila (3690 meter) Phoktey dara (3733 meter), Kedarkantha (4100 meter) and even Gurudongmar Lake (5430 meter). But other than Sandakphu, all were summit - I spent night at lower height, went to higher height, enjoyed sometime, and then came back and stayed at lower height.

I started to eat chocolate bar. I was feeling dizzy. It seems that I'm listening my trek-mates over dream. They are discussing if the weather doesn't get cleared tomorrow, should we stay here another day or not. I'm trying to join in the conversation - but couldn't.

I was in semi-awake state long time, slept almost near to the dawn. And it seems within 5mins they are calling me.

Weather is clear.

I jumped out of bed. Had 3 layers as quickly as possible and went outside.

I couldn't believe that actually I'm standing here. It seems that it's a dream. No camera can ever capture the beauty. We were stunned. We were spellbound.

We got the reward of all our effort, all our pain, the sacrifice of leving the comfort of home - we got a thousand-fold return. We are happy. Very happy.
