Once in the space of the Church of St. Nicholas in Prague, you involuntarily raise your eyes to the dome of this building. You seem to find yourself in the scenery of unprecedented beauty.

Paintings, sculptures, an abundance of air and a multi-layered space attract and captivate. The gaze glides from one piece of furniture to another. I won’t be surprised if I say that even a person far from art is unlikely to remain indifferent here."Baroque theater" is really the feeling you get in this place.

Роспись, скульптуры, обилие воздуха и многослойность пространства притягивает и увлекает. Взгляд скользит от одной детали убранства к другой. Не удивлю, если скажу, что даже далёкий от искусства человек вряд ли останется здесь равнодушным. "Театр в стиле барокко" - это действительно то чувство, что испытываешь в этом месте.

The Azam brothers managed to create a unified play of individual elements in church architecture, which turned the stage setting for worship into a kind of “sacred theater in the Baroque style” (das theatrum sacrum im Barock). In the late, expressive baroque style, they were able to combine architecture, painting, sculpture: space, light, volume and color into a single work of art.

Братьям Азам удавалось создавать в церковной архитектуре единую игру отдельных элементов, которая превращала сценическую обстановку для богослужения в своеобразный «священный театр в стиле барокко» (das theatrum sacrum im Barock). В стиле позднего, экспрессивного барокко они смогли соединить архитектуру, живопись, скульптуру: пространство, свет, объём и цвет в единое произведение искусства.

The brothers Kosmas Damian Azam (September 28, 1686 - May 10, 1739) and Egidius Quirin Azam (September 1, 1692 - April 29, 1750) were painters, sculptors, architects and decorators, masters of decorating church interiors of the South German Baroque.

Братья Космас Дамиан Азам (28 сентября 1686 - 10 мая 1739) и Эгидий Квирин Азам (1 сентября 1692— 29 апреля 1750) — живописцы, скульпторы, архитекторы и лепщики-декораторы, мастера оформления церковных интерьеров южно-немецкого барокко.
