CREATIVITY WHEEL 1. Making of. ENG-ESP. RUEDA DE LA CREATIVIDAD

Today I´m going to show you the process of making this creativity tool I started elaborating last March and little by little I have been making more rings and possibilities.

I love painting from random ideas and creating a narrative that can come from the subconscious.
I also teach children art classes in this way and during our severe lockdown in Spain last spring I only had online contact with my students and found some difficulties I tried to overcome.
I had this idea that if I made a wheel with different levels and elements this could be a way of starting a story with random objects or characters.

Hoy voy a mostrar el proceso de manufactura de esta herramienta de creatividad que empecé a elaborar en marzo del año pasado, y poco a poco he ido ampliando con más aros y posibilidades.

Me encanta pintar desde ideas que surgen al azar y con ellas construir una narrativa que emana del subconsciente.
Doy clases de pintura para niños con esta fórmula .Durante el severo confinamiento en España la primavera pasada sólo tuve contacto online con ellos y encontré ciertas dificultades que traté de subsanar.
Se me ocurrió una idea: si construía una rueda con distintas capas y elementos, ésta podría ser la manera de plantear una historia con objetos elegidos al azar para que los alumnos desarrollaran la narrativa visual en sus pinturas.

I went into my workshop and found some wood and cut it into the shapes I wanted and sanded them down, the most complicated piece to make and build was the window panel.

Fui a mi taller y rescaté unos trozos de tablero que recorté según mi idea. Luego los lijé bien y procedí a lo más complicado; añadirle un panel con ventanas y persianitas.

I´m not a carpenter but I work out ways to use the tools available and did my best.

No soy carpintera, pero me las ingenio utilizando las herramientas a mi alcance e hice lo que pude.

So, I got the wheels sanded, shaped and then I started painting them to create the scenes I want to represent.

De este modo di forma y lijé los discos y luego empecé a pintarlos para crear las escenas que quiero representar.

Here is the start of two of the underwheels. One is based on crazy space imagination and the other more possible landscapes of this world. This is one of the possibilities that will appear under the windows.

Aquí estoy en el comienzo de dos de los discos que van debajo. Uno se basa en cosas locas imaginadas sobre el espacio y el otro sobre paisajes más plausibles. Esta es una de las posibilidades que aparecerán a través de las ventanitas.

And then finally, the basic shape is made.

Y finalmente, la forma basica está montada.

Two of my friends tried out the almost finished model and we turned the hand and wheels and where the hand lays, it will choose three elements, one from each wheel and from this we will start to build a story.
In the case of using this to start a painting, you can create an image with those elements.
This makes use of our subconscious. Two people can get the same elements but each will create a different narrative.
I call it the creativity wheel.
I´m still making more wheels for it to make more possibilities.
This is the base I made recently, and a few more possibilities:

Dos amigas probaron el modelo casi acabado. Hicieron girar los discos y la manecilla, y allá dónde queda apuntando la manecilla indica un elemento en cada disco, tres en total. Esos tres elementos se utilizan para crear una historia, y se incluyen en el cuadro.
Esto hace que utilicemos el subconsciente. Dos personas podrían obtener la misma combinación de elementos, pero cada una creará una historia diferente con ellos.
La llamo LA RUEDA CREATIVA.
Todavía estoy produciendo más discos para aumentar el número de posibilidades.
Esta es la base que hice recientemente, y algunas posibilidades más.

I will, in the future, organise the photos I have and stories that the children created using this wheel It´s so much fun.

En el futuro organizaré las fotos que tengo sobre historias que los niños han pintado utilizando esta rueda. Es muy divertido.
