Where The Little Mermaid Goes To Church

in WORLD OF XPILAR2 years ago (edited)

The Little Mermaid comes out of the water in all her beauty and then goes graciously up the 199 steps to St Mary’s Church. Exactly 199 steps, yes, which have been counted indeed. I didn’t count them as I had to watch where I’m going while taking more and more photos. It also gets crowded here as the town of Whitby in North East England attracts many even international tourists with its popular Abbey which inspired the novel about Dracula.

The Little Mermaid isn’t entirely sure what religion is actually and whether she is a believer at all. But it is so windy here on the top of the hill that she actually ends up rushing to go inside the church.

The red flower garlands welcome her to the church. Some get tangled in her hair. They are made from poppies which people in the Commonwealth countries use to commemorate all who fought in the wars. After the battles in the First World War fields of poppies grew where the land had been destroyed by the fighting.

The interior of St Mary’s is decorated with handmade artwork inspired by the sea and everything that lives in it.

I also dare to assume that none of my readers is a little mermaid, so to get to St Mary’s Church I recommend the Park and Ride. It assures you are comfortably shuttled from the car park to the heart of town and back for just £2.50 per person.

I like you. I think I even know. You are the queen. I can't even argue. I wish you to become on the next not QUEEN, asuper queen. It wasn’t great that I met such a beautiful woman, but I don’t know what country you are from. I will make a screenshot in Russian.

Thank you ever so much @steem-venera Long live the Queen 🙂 I am pleased to have met you too! You are a fighter who takes Steemit seriously and never misses an opportunity to rise and shine. We are in this together. I was born in Bulgaria but I moved out of the country ages ago. I have always worked in the travel industry so I have met many Ukrainians and Russians in the resorts in my home country, Egypt, Vietnam, etc. so I picked up some of the language. I also used to do presentations about the hotels in Russian so I came to know words and phrases especially related to the rooms, facilities, meals, all these sorts of things. It is a bit more difficult for me to reply in Russian especially in writing as I never properly studied the language. But yes, I am able to read and I do understand your screenshots in Russian and they give me even a better idea of the English version. Such translators are still improving and hopefully they will get better one day. Cheers my friend and have a nice evening.

Sorry for the bad translation. This is how a translator works in Europe. I wish you a good night.

Not the fact that your post will win. Hope dies last. I keep my fists for you.

Wow ... very beautiful place. Eventhough you must have watched your every step, you took some great photos there, @petface.

Thank you ever so much for stopping by my friend @zorank and actually reading my post. The more you practise 📸 the better you become but always safety first 🙃 Next time I would like to overnight there so I get the chance to enjoy Whitby without the many day trippers.
