The wind increased suddenly, rushing over Hans. At the same time, the demon swooped down and enveloped him completely. It seemed to fill every pore of his skin, every aspect of his being. From within him, he felt a hurricane begin, swirling, growing, until it seemed like he would be ripped apart from the sheer turmoil. It centered in his chest and involuntarily, he raised his torso up, arcing from the pain. It raised further, lifting him off his feet until he was floating in the air, buffeted by the wind. He might have been screaming. He wouldn't have known.
The frenzy within spread to his extremities. As it traveled through his body, he felt every where it touched explode in raw power, greater than anything he had ever imagined. His muscled bulged. His bones became like metal. Every lock of hair on his head and body was sucked into his skin leaving his raw and completely hairless. His senses sharpened until he could sense things away from his location. He could move objects without touching them. Create or destroy them with a thought. He could change his location without moving. He was becoming one with the shadows, they were his new servants.
His screams turned into laughter. Deep maniacal laughter.
All his life, he had been helpless. Now? Now he was a god! The spirit of the dark side of the moon could not have chosen a better vessel. He would destroy them all. Everyone who had wronged him, all those who had stood idly by while he suffered? They would all pay.
The wind stopped. The darkness dissipated and the full moon reappeared again.
Hans lifted his fist and stared at his powerful hands. He touched the black cloak and cape which fell in supple waves down his shoulder and encased his body. He ran his palm over his head, now completely smooth and bald from the transformation.
He had been reborn.
