Steemit Engagement Challenge WOX, S10W5: Collage of my Life

Today I have learned the true meaning of "Living in faith every day."

I had to believe and trust that I could do this.

Materials:

I wanted to use materials that I collected during the week. As I am a "plain Jane," what caught my attention was the packaging I collected. Not only was it made of recyclable paper, but it was also an earthy brown which is one of my favorite colors.

My mom was visiting me last week, and as we sat paging through her recipe book, a page fell out. I knew that somehow I had to use it in my collage. Mom’s recipes have a special meaning in my life. It would also look good with the brown paper bags.

I also found a business directory and some scrap paper.

I kept some coffee close by in case I had to color some of the white pages.

How I made it

First, I cut out what I thought I could use. The one paper bag was so thick that I could use it for my background. There was no need to glue it to a carton.

I then started arranging the items, getting an idea of what I wanted to achieve.

It just didn’t want to work for me. I decided to take an afternoon nap. It turned out that it was just what I needed, as I now had a better idea of the story I wanted to tell.

🖽 I created a window into my life, starting with my profession. I used scrap paper from a contract I signed not so long ago selling one of my properties. I also used part of one of the paper bags to create the illusion of a roulette wheel with numbers from the business directory. I focused on the number 0 flying off the wheel. "Zero is not nothing" when you are a business owner.

🖽The zeros took me into the next section of my life, my hobbies. I love cooking and baking, and this is where my mother’s recipe came in handy. To bring out the beauty and softness of being a woman, I added a piece of lace. The images are all from the take-away paper bag.

🖽Lastly, I let two open hands lead the way into my personality. The hands are 3D, which is not very clear in the image. Open-minded, trustworthy, diligent, an explorer, sociable, and homely, that is me.

🖽 I ended the collage and my life with the piece I cut off from the scrap paper. It is my life, and it is complete.
