#Club100 - My Trip to Batumi 🇬🇪
Hello Steeminas;
I had a tour of the Eastern Black Sea Region last month, and I have been writing articles about this tour lately. In today's article, we cross the borders of Turkey🇹🇷 and go to Georgia, Batumi.🇬🇪
Undoubtedly, one of my favorite places in Batumi was Europe Square. This square is the most popular square in the city. The astronomical clock tower and the statue of Medea are located in this square. Special days of the city were also celebrated in the square, which was influenced by European architecture. While you are having a good time at the cafes in the square, you can try the most popular alcohol of the country, chacha🍷, here.
This statue is not actually located in Batumi. It was the first building we came across after we entered Georgia🇬🇪 from Turkey🇹🇷. Behind this statue in Sarp village is Sarp waterfall. While Turkey is a Muslim🕌 country, Georgia is a Christian⛪️. It is believed that Christianity was brought to Georgia by the Apostle Andreas. It is believed that this statue was made in honor of St. Andreas.
The statue of Poseidon located right in front of the Theater building in Batumi. Poseidon is the god of the sea and earthquakes in Greek mythology. There are children👼🏼 symbolizing innocence just below the Poseidon statue here. At the bottom, there are mermaids, and these mermaids🧜♀️ symbolize abundance and fertility.
Medea statue represents the combination of Georgian mythology and Greek mythology. In Greek mythology, the fleece represents power💪🏻. In this statue, **Medea **is holding a golden fleece in her hand. Legend has it that Lason, who began to search for the golden fleece, came to Georgia. The king's👑 daughter, Medea, also falls in love with Lason. He agrees to marry Medea on the condition that the golden fleece be given to him. However, this marriage does not go well. Lason cheats on Medea after the marriage takes place. Medea returns to Georgia and the fate of the golden fleece is unknown.
Ilia Chavchavadze is a famous folk poet and independence fighter. Chavchavadze, the leader of the Georgian national independence war, made many sacrifices for the Georgian people. She is known as the "father of the nation" among the Georgian people. The Georgian church also honored Chavchavadze as a saint.
Another symbol of Batumi is the Alphabetical Tower. This tower is located within Miracle Park. This tower is designed as a DNA🧬 helix and 33 letters of the Georgian alphabet are placed in this helix.
The photo above was taken from the Ferris Wheel🎡 in Miracle Park. There are many social activities opportunities on the coastline🏖. There is a 7 km walking path 🛣🚶🏻♀️ on the coastline, which is the lively part of the city. Many structures such as the Ali and Nino statue, the lighthouse and the clock tower are located on the coastline.
Now, I will talk about the statue of Ali and Nino, which inspired a sad story💔. This statue is one of the first things that come to mind when Batumi is mentioned. Ali is an Azeri Muslim youth, while Nino is a Christian Georgian princess. Ali and Nino, who have two different nationalities and religions, have an impossible love story. Despite all the impossibilities, these two lovers👩🏻❤️🙎🏻♂️ meet with another obstacle this time. World War I breaks out and Ali goes to war to defend his country and loses his life here.
The sculpture, inspired by this sad love story, is in motion, and Ali and Nino meet once a day and soon separate through each other.
Located in Miracle Park, Ferris Wheel is in an ideal place to see Batumi from the top. The ride to the wheel, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the Ali and Nino statue and the Alphabetic Tower, is 10 Lari.₾ So in other words about 13.5 Steem.
In the part of my article so far, I have mentioned Miracle Park many times. There are many important structures of the city in Miracle Park. Some of them have been mentioned above. In addition, this park hosts many organizations in the city.
This was my Batumi trip as it was a day trip. Since Batumi is not a very big city, one day trip is enough, but if I had an extra day, I would like to visit Batumi Botanical Park. I loved this city, which has influences from both Turkish culture and Europe. I hope you liked it too.
