Spontan fiel die Wahl des Motivs auf mein Schachspiel, das seit einiger Zeit ungenutzt im Schrank steht. Warum? Nun ja, die Welt scheint sich immer mehr in eine Art Spiel zu verwandeln, in schwarze und weiße Figuren, bist du nicht weiß, dann bist du schwarz. Ganz klar! Doch bevor ich jetzt in leidige, uns zum Hals heraushängende Pandemie-, Klima- oder Kriegsspiele abschweife, kümmern wir uns doch lieber um unser Foto.

Schachfiguren fotografieren, das ist doch eine leichte Aufgabe oder? Öhm, na ja, für mich nicht, gleich beim ersten Versuch mit einem seitlich platzierten Blitz wurden die Figuren nicht so ausgeleuchtet wie ich mir das vorgestellt habe.
Photographing chess pieces is an easy task, isn't it? Um, well, not for me, right at the first attempt with a flash placed to the side, the pieces were not illuminated as I had imagined.

Jetzt noch einige der schwarzen Figuren mit auf das Bild, ein Spiel ohne Gegner wäre doch langweilig oder? Nicht nur der Gute, sondern auch der Böse muss inszeniert werden. Dann noch jemand in die vordere Reihe rücken, den Chef der Guten oder eben der Bösen, je nachdem.

Vor kurzem sah ich eine Doku über Pyramiden, die goldene Zahl 1,618 wurde darin öfters erwähnt. Das erinnerte mich an den goldenen Schnitt, der ebenfalls auf dieser Zahl basiert. So wählte ich beim original Bild einen Ausschnitt im Längen:Breiten Verhältnis 1:1.618.
I recently saw a documentary about pyramids and the golden number 1.618 was mentioned several times. This reminded me of the golden ratio, which is also based on this number. So I chose a section of the original picture with a length:width ratio of 1:1.618.
Um das Pferd ins Blickfeld zu rücken, positionierte ich das Auge des Pferdes ebenfalls anhand der goldenen Zahl, die Abstände rechter:linker und oberer:unterer Rand zum Auge wurden jeweils ins Verhältnis 1:1,618 gesetzt.
To bring the horse into focus, I also positioned the horse's eye using the golden number, the distances right:left and top:bottom to the eye were each set to a ratio of 1:1.618.
Gefällt mir schon mal sehr gut, aber noch schnell ein Versuch mit der goldenen Spirale, auch Fibonacci-Spirale genannt, damit könnten wir das Pferd noch mehr ins Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit setzen. Eine Ebene der Fibonacci-Spirale für Photoshop/Gimp etc. gibt es übrigens hier zum Download. So sieht das Original mit darübergelegter Spirale aus:

Ok, hier ist mir das Pferd zu dominant, die anderen Spielfiguren sind schließlich auch wichtig, daher gefällt mit die erste Variante besser.

Für mein Gefühl kommt hier das Pferdchen mit den anderen Spielfiguren ganz gut zur Geltung oder was meint ihr?

in theory, the still life (most of them) is based on the use of symbolism, objects are specially selected. In your version, the symbolism of the objects coincided with the symbolism of lighting :)

когда я ещё активно резал дерево, сделал комплект шахматных фигур с символикой Света и Тьмы... вот только теперь для них нужна отдельная доска ))

Letztlich überzeugt mich das Ergebnis, aber ich muss sagen, dass mir im Unterschied zum zweiten Bild das erste lichttechnisch etwas besser gefiel. Das hatte fast schon etwas Mystisches mit dem Fokus auf den Springer, der dazu noch hinter den eigenen Reihen auf das gegenüber im Dunkeln liegende Unheil wartet?!
Ja, beim Ersten ist der Springer noch etwas aufgeregt, als ob er schon wüsste, dass er gleich dran ist :-)
I know the idea was not to allude to war or anything like that, but the position of the pieces clearly reminded me of the scenes in the movies where the king makes the speech in front of the troops, just before the battle (braveheart) :)

Coole Idee! Nun mag ich mir von der treffend beobachteten Schwarz-Weiß-Malerei nicht die Freude am Schachspiel verleiden lassen, aber ich verstehe Deine Gedanken...
Von Deinen Foto-Varianten gefällt mir das allererste tatsächlich am besten. Es ist für mich das Einzige, das nicht künstlich wirkt.

Da hast Recht. Ich hatte anfangs mehr Text dazu, den ich aus dem Grund dann eingedampft habe, ganz weglassen wollte ich es dann aber doch nicht.

Ja, ist aber schon ein Weilchen her, da habe ich das öfter gemacht. Allerdings meist auf niedriger Stufe, sonst braucht er lange zum Überlegen und räumt mich dazu noch kräftig ab.
