El Laguito
A pond is, by definition, a shallow body of water smaller than a lake, natural or artificial, with some presence of aquatic plants and animals.
Its depth, seasonal variations in water level, nutrient flows, the amount of sunlight reaching it, the presence of large visiting mammals, the composition of fish communities and the level of salinity can affect the varieties of plant and animal communities present in the pond.
Recently, I had to travel to Caracas for a couple of days to attend to some pending personal matters, and I did not miss the opportunity to photograph this pond, commonly known as "El Laguito", which is located at the southwest entrance of the city.

Un estanque es, por definición, una masa de agua poco profunda y más pequeña que un lago, natural o artificial, con alguna presencia de plantas y animales acuáticos.
Su profundidad, las variaciones estacionales del nivel del agua, los flujos de nutrientes, la cantidad de luz solar que le llega, la presencia de grandes mamíferos visitantes, la composición de las comunidades de peces y el nivel de salinidad, pueden afectar a las variedades de comunidades vegetales y animales presentes en el estanque.
Recientemente, tuve que viajar a Caracas un par de días, para atender algunos asuntos personales pendientes, y no perdí la ocasión para fotografiar este estanque, conocido comúnmente como "El Laguito", y que se encuentra ubicado en la entrada suroeste de la ciudad.
