Hello Steemians!😎

How are you guys? Last week I told about an Ancient Temple located in Sri Lanka. So today I hope to share about mountain hike that is best for beginners for hiking. Let's move to the story,

It is known as Narangala since ancient times due to the shape of the mountain peak which is shaped like a narang fruit at a height of 4540 feet. Among the mountain ranges of Uva province, Narangala Mountain is second only to the Namunukula mountain range.

Historically speaking, the history of the area around the Narangala mountain range dates back to Buddha's first visit to Lanka. Lord Buddha's first visit to Mahiyangana was on the full moon or Duruthu Poho day of the ninth month of Buddhahood.

According to one famous historical legend among the people of Uva, the Buddha came to Mahiyangana with the hope of placing a Siripa inscription on the top of the Narangala mountain, but on Duruthu Poho day, a group of farmers was farming in a village near the Narangala mountain area, so the Buddha abandoned the idea of leaving a Siripa inscription.

One of the things implied in this story is that even 2600 years ago, there was a lifestyle, economy, and well-established settlements based on agriculture in the area near the Narangala mountain range.

There is another legend to say that... The next most important information related to the Narangala mountain range is the period that King Waragamba spent over the mountains due to foreign invasions. It lasted from 105 to 89 BC. Legend has it that King Varagamba and his group spent a lot of time in the area around Bogoda Vihara located on the right side of the Narangala mountain range at that time and a tunnel was built from Bogoda Vihara to Dova Rajamaha Vihara and one of the roads from it runs to the top of Narangala mountain.

A lot of very important information about the Narangala mountain range is revealed during the Kanda Udarata and Wellasse independence struggle that raged for more than a year from October 1817 to November 1818. In the group of caves near the Narangala mountain range, during the freedom struggle of 1817-18, it was said to have helped in the training and gathering of troops as well as their protection.

Did you know this information about Narangala which has so many legends...Many ancient temples and antiquities can be seen near the Narangala mountain range. The Narangala mountain region is a beautiful eco-region bordering the Halielala, Soranathota, and Kandaketiya Divisional Secretariat areas of Badulla District.

Mount Narangala is a paradise for climbers and can be climbed in just an hour. And it is very safe for overnight camping. It gets very cold at night.
