To ensure you are fully up to date please check this slightly older last post

We managed to be 68% self powered in September which i am pretty happy about- we were 41% self powered in August so quite a jump in solar production with the weather changing.

The House used 683KWH in September with this graph showing were our energy sources came from

We required 203KWH from the grid and i just got the bill for September which including line charges taxes and more taxes was $102 NZD.

For October so far we are 75% self powered which is up from 68% in September, roll on Summer so i can see how close we can get to being 100% self powered for a month or three hopefully.

That has been my September Solar stats which could have been out a lot sooner but i was busy working and procrastinating.

Have a super Sunday Solar fans

Thanks for this data. I am increasingly convinced that those who own a home would do well to produce energy themselves

Yeah why not the Sun is just sitting up there - lets use it

I think that the very fact that solar panels are available in your home gives you the opportunity to use backup electricity. In a word, there is a choice, and this is already a big plus for you and your home. Plus saving money when using solar panels. Unfortunately, in my country the use of solar panels has not become widespread, but I think it’s a matter of time. Thank you very much for the interesting statistics and the post in general. Have a nice weekend.

There was an initial setup cost of ...quite a bit..... but i like the fact that i can control our energy needs (weather dependent)

thanks for stopping by

The main thing is that you are already using modern technologies for your home, plus you must take into account that the technical capabilities of solar batteries are developing and new technical characteristics of the batteries themselves are opening up. Thank you very much for responding to my comment.

Is this the Powerwall? From Tesla?

Yep that is the Tesla Powerwall

It looks very small for the power. How much storage capacity does the Powerwall have?
When I think of electricity storage, I have chunky monstrosities in my mind... but this could fit in my living room :-)

The Powerwall can store 13.5KW of power which typically lasts us the night time period and some.

It can supply a max of 5KW at a time continually dependent on battery level

Yeah its not that big size wise

Wow, that's a very remarkable performance. I'll have to check whether they're also available here.
