Hi friends!

To be able to draw the hands in any position, or foreshortened or to capture their expressiveness, we first need to know their characteristics and their proportions.
So we'll study the hand along with drawing it schematically for now.
To begin, this time we will see the characteristics and proportions of the "inner side" of the hand.
I propose that you observe your own hand to corroborate what I will show you. That will also help you in the observation process.

Para poder dibujar las manos en cualquier posición, o en escorzo o para captar su expresividad, primero necesitamos conocer sus características y sus proporciones.
Así que estudiaremos la mano junto con dibujarla esquemáticamente por ahora.
Para empezar, en esta ocasión veremos las características y proporciones del “lado interno” de la mano.
Te propongo que observes tu propia mano para corroborar lo que te mostraré. Eso también te ayudará en el proceso de observación.

The "inner side" of the hand./ El "lado interno" de la mano.

Basically, we can divide the hand into two equal squares. The upper square is for the four fingers and the lower square is for the palm of the hand and to place the thumb.

Básicamente, podemos dividir la mano en dos cuadrados iguales. El cuadrado superior es para los cuatro dedos y el cuadrado inferior es para la palma de la mano y para colocar el pulgar.

We will vertically divide the upper square into two parts, approximately equal.
Then we will divide the bottom square into four, as shown in the drawing below.

Dividiremos verticalmente el cuadrado superior en dos partes, aproximadamente iguales.
Luego dividiremos el cuadrado inferior en cuatro, como se muestra en el dibujo a continuación.

Below I show you a summary of the divisions that we have made.

Now, we will make some modifications to the lower square by drawing some diagonals that will allow us to better define the palm of the hand. Try to see those corresponding diagonal lines on your hand.

Ahora, haremos algunas modificaciones al cuadrado inferior dibujando unas diagonales que nos permitirán definir mejor la palma de la mano. Intenta ver esas correspondientes líneas diagonales en tu mano.

Then, divide the rest of the top square horizontally into three roughly equal parts. Next, draw a diagonal on the side of the square as shown below.
What side? That will depend on whether you are drawing the left or the right hand. In this case, I am drawing the left hand.

Luego, divide el resto del cuadrado superior horizontalmente en tres partes aproximadamente iguales. En seguida dibuja una diagonal en el lado del cuadrado como se muestra a continuación.

I drew the outline so that you can see how the basic shape of the hand already appears.

To define the length of the fingers we will draw diagonals like those of the palm but a little more inclined than them (see the drawing below and also look them on your hand).
On the left, we draw two roughly equal segments to define the thumb.

Para definir el largo de los dedos dibujaremos unas diagonales como las de la palma pero un poco más inclinadas que ellas (ver el dibujo de abajo y mirarlas también en tu mano).
A la izquierda, dibujamos dos segmentos aproximadamente iguales para definir el pulgar.

Below are all the helplines and divisions that will allow us to draw the "inner side" of the hand.

Observe how the diagonal lines define the height of the fingers and the location of the digital creases and digital/palmar creases.
Note that the palmar creases are also important in defining the "inside" of the hand.
