photography - "portrait of a statue" - and pics from icelandic fishing village, siglufjordur.
hello all!
and thank you all so much for the great tips and comments on my posts during my self proclaimed "boat day", i really appreciae them, and have already made a wonderful photo becouse of those tricks. thank you especialy @eiafp !!!
today i want to present a "portrait" i made of a statue that stands in the down town "center" area of the historic north eastern village of siglufjordur. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siglufj%C3%B6r%C3%B0ur
i took so many photos that day of that statue. i was studying how the light was being captured on the camera, (being my first month owning a "real" smart phone with a good camera. the first photo is the one i think i like the best.
next we have a shot "straight" at the face, without afterwork.
next we see the effects afterwork (a lot of it, to be fair). has on the face, the look is probably not for evryone!
since the statue is, on it´s own not, (as i had originally tought, as much material as i was hoping for. so for added quality i add some more pictures from the stunning small fishing town of siglufjordur. and i start with a work of mine titled, "the rock".
the photos are taken in the summer of 2020. at the time me and my at that time partner were living at fjallabyggd, iceland. but fjallabyggð (translating to mountain-town), is a "unification" of two towns in nort east, iceland. ólafsfjordur, and siglufjordur, we lived in ólafsfjordur at the time, i will be making a post about that town too, (photo portrait).
however let´s stay in siglufjordur for the time being, moving down to the harbour area, begining with!
i remember we walked to the local pharmacy and then down to the harbour area, the first image from there-abouts, (the harbour", was an old building. Still in ue, storing nets and other fishing equipment. i foud it fascinating, remnants from a time almost passed.
down at the harbur there was ofcourse a lot of interesting equipment and some photo oportunities. i present one of my faviorite, the chain leads the eyes directly through the image, almost making the boat a side "thing" on the image... also, notice how fast your eye travels... lots of "depth".
another one, this one depicting "equipment". i kynd og like it, however it only "got into" the photo post, becouse i´ve lost my faviorite one from this location, and this one is "similar".
leaving the harbour, i captured yet another boat, as if left there by chance. And the owners left in a hurry, and no one draggs it away. it deteriorates in peace as the winds of change, make siglufjordur, iceland. a modern town, with banks and factories. :)
i have loads more from the town. but will leave this post as it is, as i try to also not have the posts too long.
all criticism, constructive, and comments are appriciated. as well as following me will result in me following you back, i hope you consider it if you are a photography lover who wants to learn and share with us.
have a wonderful day! and stay safe!

The cameras on phones are now better than some of the first DLSR cameras. The camera phone is ideal for learning composition.
The upshot of the sculpture is awesome. It is unique and the way the arm on the right creates a framed triangle of space is brilliant. That triangle is key in many classical paintings. The post brings texture and depth to the sculpture.
I am going to focus on the last photo because you stated that the boat was the main subject. However, my eye kept going to the van and the cirque behind the van. I used to snowboard and that bowl looks amazing, and the way the sun is hitting the land shows the depth and pitch beautifully. Try playing with the crop on that image.
I look forward to more! - Shannon
The colours in some of them are almost psychedelic!
lol! i photo it as i see it, sometimes i´m on more psychadelics than in others. i take it as a compliment, so. thank you so much mate!
I love the warmth in the images of cold places. wonderful!
