Rallycross was invented by Robert Reed, who was the producer on ITV's World of Sport programme at the time. The first event took place at Lydden Hill on 4 February back in 1967, where it quickly became a staple of Saturday afternoon sports in the UK with both ITV and BBC broadcasting rallycross. Rallycross means to drive as fast as you can from place A to place B. And many people around the globe are interesting in these things. And it is interesting, funny and exciting!

Martin Schanche and Petter Solberg are Norway’s flag in rallycross. And they were tremendously good at their times, and they made great thing, and all things were raw! And this is the way we are thinking, and we should use our movements precisely and with good manners, and with being as quickly as we can, and not doing too many stupid things. The world is rational and irrational, and we should do most rational efforts in sport!

Rallycross is a rally across different places, and that is the reason behind the name and the philosophy of driving these cars as they are doing on different paths for the car!

The first true rallycross was organised by Bud Smith († 1994) and the Tunbridge Wells Centre of the 750 MC, with the aid of Lydden Circuit owner Bill Chesson († 1999), and was won by later Formula One driver as well as 1968 Rally Monte Carlo winner Vic Elford in a showroom Porsche 911 of the British importer AFN, ahead of Brian Melia in his Ford Lotus Cortina and Tony Fall in a BMC Mini Cooper S.

After that inaugural event there were another two test rallycrosses at Lydden, on 11 March and 29 July, before the new World of Sport Rallycross Championship for the ABC TV viewers started with round one on 23 September, to be followed by round two on 7 October. The series was run over a total of six rounds (three at Lydden and three at Croft) and was eventually won by Englishman Tony Chappell (Ford Escort Twin Cam), who became the first British Rallycross champion after winning the final round of the new series on 6 April 1968 at Lydden. And we can all be there when the drivers are driving, and later on being in our homes and listening to and acting against what we have seen. And maybe, we gave some statements on the TV-screen of everything possible to say and to claim!

Rallycross is a competition within motorsport and using a car, and the driving is going on time on a closed permanent track with a permanent surface, and it consists usually of asphalt and gravel. In rallycross one is using modified cars, and they are built to withstand the stresses the car is exposed for, and being most possible effective around the track. The sport is mainly most popular in the West European countries, and especially in the Nordic countries, but the sport has grown must all over the world the latest years, and we are many people loving the people driving fast, and they are our stars forever and ever!

When do all these things start in rallycross? You can compete in the junior class from the age 14. Accordingly, you can be very young when starting this career, and as all careers it is about making things as good as possible, and to be in the front! And leading and winning the run races are things we want to achieve! And there are two persons in the car unless the race is easy, and you need just one person, and if you need two persons, the person next to the driver is reading and oriented around the map!

What is the difference between rally and rallycross? The simplest answer is that rally is one car at a time on a public road closed for racing, and rallycross is multiple cars running together on a closed course specifically designed for racing.

We wish all people good luck with watching rallycross, and also for the people that are driving and taken part in competitions! On competition is about every kinds of competition at many places in the world in history, in present and in future!
