Steemit Engagement Challenge WOX S6W5: "Visual Art: New Year Eve in my hometown"
My entry for contest. Thanks to the judges and organisers of competition.

My art was created using using pencil crayons.
I first drew the art with a pencil on good quality paper.
Also used a fine liner to accentuate the lines and some of the shading.
The theme is a collage of various activities we as South Africans enjoy at New Year and beyond.
The weather plays an important factor in the the outdoor activities we enjoy, as depicted in my main image.
Camping, funfairs, barbecues or braai's as we call it, are such a pleasant way of entertaining family and friends, without the extra expense of going to hotels.
Children play and make friends at the camping sites and also attend funfairs and have a fantastic time on the many rides etc. provided.
Adults enjoy a tasty meal at a great price, without breaking the bank.
The scroll on the left depicts summer flames and heat, that we experience as a country, in summer.

Dianadee, a beautiful and colorful drawing of a New Year's Eve celebration, in a strange environment for those of us who live in the northern hemisphere. A New Year's Eve at a campsite, with a dinner in a tent; some drinks at a picnic and some balloons and colorful ribbons; a mom with her girls in short sleeves. There are many elements, but all very identifying of the place where you spend your New Year's Eve party. Thanks for showing it to the rest of us.

I am not an expert, but what he interprets with words is the reflection of his creation and that is what art is about for me.
Beyond the drawing I was able to realize that although we have different cultures we have in common the family union and the enjoyment of life.

Yes, it was fun creating this collage. After Covid everyone needs a smile and some joy. I wanted it to be lighthearted and not too structured :)
