The Beauty of the Cunda River
Lhokseumawe City is a city located between the city of Banda Aceh (Aceh) and Medan (North Sumatra). The city is halfway between the two provincial capitals. Thus, this city is always a stopover.
Although once prosperous with its natural gas so much that it is nicknamed the petrodollar, Lhokseumawe holds unparalleled natural beauty. The city located in the Strait of Malacca has a river. This river divides Lhokseumawe City into two parts.
The two parts are across the Cunda River which crosses directly with the Strait of Malacca and next to the island of Sumatra which stretches widely. Across the Cunda River is included in the Banda Sakti District. This area has many government buildings and has been the center of the city since ancient times.
There are 3 (three) bridges to connect the Banda Sakti area with the mainland of Sumatra. The three bridges are bridges on the city entrance through the Malacca Strait junction. Both bridges are in the direction of exiting the city to Cunda at the Polantas intersection. The third Loskala bridge is in the Blang Panyang area.
A few years ago, the Deputy Minister of PUPR visited to build a fourth bridge in the Pusong area. The goal is to unravel the congestion in the Cunda area. But until now the bridge has not been built.
The Cunda River that divides Lhokseumawe City holds a million potentials and beauties. This potential is of course river bioda that can become a livelihood for the community. For example, fish, oysters, and even a place to make cages.
If this river is receding, then residents who generally work as fishermen use this river to look for oysters and fish. These oysters will later be removed from the shell and sold to the public. If the river water is at high tide, then residents use it to look for fish using hooks or guarding cages.
Many cages have been established by the community with fish pets that are often consumed by the community. The cages and activities of these residents are their attraction in enjoying the beauty of the Cunda River. Especially if the sun is setting, then you will be able to enjoy the beautiful sunset from the Cunda River.
