The Beauty of Rumoh Geudong Monument
One of the gross human rights violations that occurred during the Aceh conflict was the Rumoh Geudong incident. Rumoh Geudong is a house located in Bili Aron Village, Glumpang Tiga District, Pidie Regency.
After the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo admitted gross human rights violations in the rumoh geudong and Jambo Keupok in South Aceh, the geudong rumoh that had been burned by the community during the conflict was built a monument. This monument has not been inaugurated because it has not been fully completed.
On this monument is written Memorial Living Park. This menu is in the form of a house with a monument in front of it. Around this monument was built a playground. This monument has been built with a sturdy fence.
On the front is the inscription Memorial Living Park Pidie Regency, just like a building signboard. This monument is located right in the rumoh geudong area which has been burned by the mob after Baharuddin Lopa's visit.
The reason for the burning was that they did not want to repeat the incident of public torture by the TNI apparatus when the DOM was implemented. According to residents, rumoh geudong was once visited by the Minister of Home Affairs Hari Sabarno. During the visit of the Minister of Home Affairs, the blood and traces of torture had been cleaned by the apparatus as if nothing had happened.
After the Minister of Home Affairs returned to Jakarta, residents were again tortured in the geudong rumoh. Not wanting a similar incident to happen again, when Baharuddin Lopa visited as a Fact-Finding Team (TPF), the geudong rumoh was immediately burned by the mob.
There are many stories of torture in the rumoh geudong. You can read a little of his story in the book "Aceh Bersimbah Darah" which may represent other stories of torture. Now the geudong rumoh has been rebuilt in the form of a monument.
This monument does not intend to recall the story of torture but as a lesson for the younger generation that Aceh has experienced gross human rights violations committed by the state.

Gracias mi amigo. Pero el rumoh geudong al que nos referimos aquí es un lugar de tortura para el pueblo de Aceh durante el conflicto anterior. El gobierno reconoce el incidente de Rumoh Geudong como una grave violación de los derechos humanos cometida por el Estado contra sus ciudadanos.
