Iceland - Enigmatic Beauty Beyond the Arctic Circle | Exploring Arctic Charms and Cultural RichessteemCreated with Sketch.

in WORLD OF XPILARlast year

Greetings the fellow people of Steemit and the WOX community!

Today i had some free time and decided to dedicate it to you showing you the most peaceful and interesting place I’ve ever been or should i say the most interesting continent I’ve ever been.

Attention to all flat earthers, yes Iceland does really feel like the edge of the world. It’s something that really makes you forget about your device and the digital world. It’s stunning breathtaking landscapes and it’s geothermal wonders are really taken out of a movie. Imagine you are watching a 3D movie but you are actually there, or was that the 4DX version?😅

Okay so, we are starting with the small coastal town called Hafnir which is around 50 kilometres from the capital of this amazing continent, but we’ll get to the capital later on. Anyway i decided to show you the whole trip and all the places i was, because i want to replicate the experience with you. This town is the quiet town like the ghost town you see in the movies, but filled with nature. It has lots of picturesque surroundings and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.

On the way to our next destination which I don’t remember the name of you are really appreciating the whole continent. I can’t explain it, just being on the road brings you some positive vibe, seeing all the landscapes from the window of the bus, seeing people on the road, but the people are not walking, but cycling trolleys, which is the weirdest thing I’ve seen someone do in a cold place, yeah I’ve seen cyclists, which is mad already, but trolleys in this cold weather? Anyway you get the idea, everything is so wholesome. 😄

Anyway we did a stop to a place with an amazing landscape and wildlife. Yeah sorry I don’t remember the name of it, but I’m not feeling sorry I don’t, just look at it. This landscape actually reminds me of Bali but cold. It’s just the landscape is so vivid and the air there is so clean. You know when you go hiking in the mountain and the air is somewhat clearer and fresh, yeah that’s the feeling, but you are not in the mountain.

I said that there’s a wildlife and i think that these little ducks are falling in that category. Let’s say these are wild ducks, which sounds funny to me, because it’s a duck, but look at how cute they are. Djab! Djab! Djab! 😅

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room, which is the Title photo with the crashed plane. The place with this plane is called the “Sólheimasandur Plane Wreck”. Yeah i know it’s so hard to pronounce. Anyway this is an iconic place in Iceland where the wreckage of this US navy plane is located in this cold wasteland. I think I remember this plane crashed like in 1973 and the wreckage has become a popular tourist attraction. Well I totally understand it why it’s an attraction, it has some sort of haunting appearance that’s contrasting against the stark landscape.

The place is also very windy, and i mean like really really windy i can almost lean on the wind. I tried to do this stunt and as you can see i almost fell off. 😅
This atmosphere in this place feels so otherworldly knowing that there’s nothing out there for hundreds of miles. Well not hundreds of miles, but it definitely felt like the wasteland from Mad Max, but windy and cold. Now mentioning Mad Max didn’t the TV Show Top Gear did an episode there?

What is this trip without some beaches am i right?

Instead of tropical white beaches, you are going to see a black sand beach with cliffs that i climbed on offering amazing views. This is the most well-known black sand beach in Iceland called the Reynisfjara Beach, i even think this place was featured in the TV show Game of Thrones. Anyway i have to say this place have a beach, but it’s definitely not for swimming, only if you have a death wish, because it’s so cold and the waves are so strong you will not come back from the sea.

Now we come for the amazing waterfalls and greenery that you start to imagine when you hear of Iceland. Sadly i had to cut so many videos onto pieces, because apparently the files were too big to post, so sorry if this part of the post ruins your experience. 🤷🏻‍♂️🥴

The waterfall you are going to see is called Skógafoss which is around 60m high. I want you first see the top of it, because we are gonna start from the landscape it gives. After that you are i’m gonna show you what’s the view from down there just as amazing it is on the top. Now I understand why so many movies and TV shows are being shot there, the filming crew comes here for the views. 😅

It’s time to show you the last place we went, but I’m not in a hurry, so I’m gonna show you some clip on the road again with amazing landscapes, but this time came with a rainbow. To be honest even if the whole trip was just driving on a roads such beautiful as these I would’ve been more than satisfied, you don’t know the satisfaction of it.

This is the last part of the post and it’s not the capital, yeah we went through it on our way there, but it was like a stop. The capital is called Reykjavik and to be honest is not big at all, but with its relatively small population felt very cozy and the locals felt very welcoming too.

Anyway the place we are going to end our journey this time is warm and it’s called The Blue Lagoon Spa. It’s basically huge warm should i say pool, located in a lava field. The waters there are special if i could express myself that way, because they are a mineral-rich waters and the whole place is located in a lava field, and because of all the minerals this water contains it heals your body, so we are not ending the post with something warm, but something healthy also. 😄

Okay guys this is for today, i hope i made your day with my experience and memories from this marvellous trip. I will definitely look to go there again, because there are so much more places I didn’t go to. See ya! 😄

Wow! It's been an incredible journey that we readers have been on, thanks to you. The landscapes are so breathtaking that I can't find the words to describe them! And you're right, the black sand beach looks a lot like the scenery in Game of Thrones.

Watching the latest videos made me feel warm, this pool looks so great.

You managed to convey the unique atmosphere of a trip to this remote island. Now I understand perfectly why you remember this particular trip so much.

It was a nice post. Describing a lot, backed with the visuals but it seems like a normal tourist route which many of us already saw in other people's posts & documentaries. Also I felt dizzy watching these soundless videos, looking like .gifs or ?! I would prefer comfortable visuals for my eyes - like photography or a video with audio where you can also speak something.

I'm a traveler & documenting my trips with texts, photos & videos with audio. This is for me preferable presentation. More pleasant for the eyes.

Did anyone else experienced any problems while watching these visuals?

I’m no traveler, i travel on vacations and i do share where I’ve been and what I experienced. It’s not a documentary, i posted it, because I’ve been there and i think it’s a good content to share to this community. I don’t know what you have expected to see, i am sharing my experiences and memories with WOX, if you felt dizzy go watch some documentary on Youtube to get some comfortable visuals for your eyes next time. My post is nothing but sharing what I’ve experienced, it’s far from documentary, i am one of the less people who dedicate their time to put a video under the form of gifs, because the site supports only videos with a limited space and it’s a pain in the a** to put such gifs like this.

You could upload a real video on some site which accepts large video files & share a link in your blog here. Good luck! Enjoy your vacations wherever you go!!!
