The captain slowly filled his pipe with scented tobacco. Eyes were tired from the intense monitoring of the monitor. I should have taken a smoke break.
"Sir, take a look through the porthole!"
This exclamation brought the captain back to reality. He lit his pipe and walked slowly to the glass (the captains should not have rushed).
An interesting picture appeared to his gaze. Some movement began outside the bathyscaphe. It was pretty gloomy there a while ago.
Rays of light were now visible at the very bottom. In these rays, shimmering and glittering with scales, small schools of fish moved. From small minnows to minnows. Several nimble dolphins circled nearby. They showed the kids the direction to the light. A whale watched this movement in the distance, just below the surface of the water. He looked like an imposing shepherd watching over his flock.
Puffing on the fragrant smoke, the captain looked at the whale. He understood what the whales eat.
Was wondering if there is enough food for the small fish? Will they be able to sail long enough?

Капитан неспешно набил трубку душистым табаком. От напряжённого слежения за монитором глаза устали. Надо было сделать перекур.
"Сэр, взгляните в иллюминатор!"
Этот возглас вернул капитана к действительности. Он раскурил трубку и неспешно подошёл к стеклу (капитанам не следовало спешить).
Его взгляду предстала любопытная картина. На бортом батискафа началось какое-то движение. Некоторое время назад там было довольно мрачно.
Сейчас у самого дна были заметны лучи света. В этих лучах переливаясь и поблёскивая чешуёй двигались небольшие косяки рыб. От маленьких пескарей до гольянов. Несколько шустрых дельфинов кружили рядом. Они показывали малышам направление к свету. Вдалеке под самой поверхностью воды за этим движением наблюдал кит. Он был похож на вальяжного пастуха следящего за своим стадом.
Затянувшись ароматным дымом, капитан посмотрел на кита. Он понимал, чем питаются киты.
Было интересно, хватает ли корма мелкой рыбёшке, смогут ли они плыть достаточно долго?
