―Esto es realmente extraño ―dijo Benjamín Valero, observando desde una de las salas de observación de la Pericles, el intenso color azul reflejado por los océanos del planeta ―. Lo hizo una vez y lo está haciendo de nuevo, el planeta parece estar cambiando, nuevamente los niveles acido cianhídrico y de sulfuro de hidrógeno, están descendiendo rápidamente, la actividad del manto que parecía estar produciéndolos se ha detenido por completo y el magma parece haber cerrado las chimeneas por las que los gases eran expulsados y de alguna forma, la escaza vegetación nativa, que aun persistía a grandes altitudes y en regiones continentales muy alejadas de las áreas costeras, ha empezado a propagarse virulentamente, creando niveles de oxígeno y dióxido de carbono casi respirables.

―¿Y a que cree que se deba esto? ―preguntó Marian, quien acababa de explicar la situación del planeta tras su regreso de la misión de exploración.

―No lo sé, la verdad estoy completamente en ascuas con esto, ninguno de los modelos de formación y evolución planetaria permiten explicar lo que aquí está pasando ―respondió Valero

―Bueno sea lo que sea que ocurre, hay una situación que debemos enfrentar y es que el planeta ya no es apto para los goei y aunque estos tipos no nos simpaticen, ni nosotros les agrademos a ellos, pidieron nuestra ayuda y debemos darnos prisa en ayudarlos ―dijo Paul Sorensen, capitán de la Pericles y comandante de la misión de exploración.

Lejos del sistema solar en una región ampliamente conocida y ya colonizada por los humanos, el planeta HDM2232 era, desde la perspectiva humana, un infierno, se encontraba ligeramente alejado de la zona de habitabilidad de la estrella, una enana amarilla similar al Sol, pero debido al efecto invernadero, su temperatura superficial rondaba, en promedio, los doscientos noventa Kelvin lo suficiente para mantener agua líquida en su superficie.

Era un poco más frío de lo que era Goa, su superficie tenía amplias llanuras de rocas vitrificadas y grandes cadenas montañosas, así como grandes lagos de agua líquida rodeados de marismas y amplias tierras que podían ser el hogar de bosques de árboles Gurami, pero lo más importante, su atmósfera era muy parecida, una mezcla similar de gases, que requería de muy poco ajuste, con un poco de esfuerzo y no salir de las colmenas climatizadas, en lo días de menor temperatura, podría ser fácilmente habitable por los goai.

Sin embargo, HDM2232 se encontraba en medio de la zona de influencia humana, y de hecho compartía sistema con un planeta habitado por humanos, Hécate, un mundo minero, en vías a convertirse en uno turístico, cuando concluyera la explotación del mineral de iridio, esto lo haría, probablemente, una región del espacio, que empezaría a ser muy frecuentada, en los próximos doscientos a trescientos años.

―Ya lo hemos hablado Matriarcas, se trata del único mundo en condiciones de habitabilidad inmediata que conocemos, si desean nuestra ayuda es lo único que podemos ofrecerles ―decía Elmer Di Paolo, Comisionado del Parlamento Para las Relaciones Goei, cargo, hasta la fecha, de poca importancia, así como muy poco atareado, motivado al, anteriormente, nulo interés de los goeis por mantener relaciones con los humanos.

Al otro lado de la mesa, la proyección holográfica de tres féminas goei, parecieron estremecerse y emitir algunos estridentes chirridos y zumbidos, que hicieron a Elmer arrugar el rostro y que fueron traducidos por el software interprete como: “Agradecemos sus esfuerzos y aceptamos su ofrecimiento con humildad”.

―Me complace que podamos ayudarlos y espero que, en un futuro, cuando hayamos superado esta crisis, podamos nuevamente reunirnos para replantear las relaciones entre nuestros pueblos, porque ahora estarán en medio de un área de gran población humana ―dijo Elmer.

―Así será señor delegado ―tradujo el intérprete, de los chillidos emitidos por una de las goei ―. Esperemos que, en un futuro, nuestras diferencias sean subsanadas.

Después de eso y tras los respectivos saludos, la trasmisión del enlace cuántico fue interrumpida. Con un breve acuerdo, anulando el antiguo convenio entre goeis y humanos, y acordando una rendición absoluta de los goeis, ese fue el termino que convinieron ellos mismos, los antiguos enemigos de la humanidad, pasaban a ser sus aliados incondicionales, a cambio de la ayuda para salvar a los sobrevivientes de su especie, ayudándolos a emigrar a un nuevo mundo que sería proporcionado por los humanos.

Así, a poco más de cuarenta y ocho horas, de que la Pericles confirmara la dramática situación de los goeis y su mermada población, con la llegada de tres naves crucero, especialmente acondicionadas para ellos, empezó el éxodo de los poco más de quinientos mil sobrevivientes, reducidos a apenas cuatro, de los antiguos diecinueve linajes, que conformaban la antes orgullosa y beligerante especie.

Far from the solar system in a region that is widely known and already colonized by humans, the planet HDM2232 was, from the human perspective, an inferno. It was slightly outside the habitable zone of the star, a yellow dwarf similar to the Sun, but due to the greenhouse effect, its surface temperature was, on average, around two hundred and ninety Kelvin, enough to keep liquid water on its surface.

It was a little colder than Goa, its surface had vast plains of glazed rock and great mountain ranges, as well as large lakes of liquid water surrounded by marshes and wide lands that could be home to forests of Gurami trees, but most importantly, its atmosphere was very similar, a similar mixture of gases, which required very little adjustment, with a little effort and not leaving the heated hives, on the days of lower temperature, it could be easily inhabited by the goai.

However, HDM2232 was in the middle of the human zone of influence, and in fact shared a system with a planet inhabited by humans, Hecate, a mining world, on the way to becoming a tourist one, when the exploitation of iridium ore was finished, this would probably make it a region of space, which would start to be very frequented, in the next two to three hundred years.

Thus, a little more than forty-eight hours after the Pericles confirmed the dramatic situation of the Goeis and their diminished population, with the arrival of three cruise ships, specially fitted out for them, the exodus of the little more than five hundred thousand survivors began, reduced to just four of the former nineteen lineages, which made up the once proud and belligerent species.
