After visiting the ‘Kek Lok Tong’, our next stop was the ‘Sam Poh Tong’, another cave temple. These two temples seem to be most popular with tourists, so we were curious to see what this cave temple is like.

The ‘Sam Poh Tong’ seems to be in a state of neglect. It’s unfortunate and I am surprised, given that it was listed in the travel guides as one of the popular destinations. They should have put an effort to spruce it up a bit.

The surrounding at the back was most obvious of neglect. The temple was closed off. It must have been quite a beautiful building in its heyday. There is a fountain which is no longer in use, and there is a tortoise pond which looked unkempt. It was indeed sad to see what could be a lovely place in such a state.

We also visited a few other temples along the way. For some reason, our driver seemed to have the impression that we were keen on all the temples. We had to tell him after visiting the fourth temple, ‘No’ more temples.
