Serie A Review - 7^ Round [Eng-Ita]

Dear friends, fans of Serie A, it's with great pleasure that I return to take care of Serie A Review, the column I conceived for the Scorum platform, and now happily transferred to the new Steemit home, within the Italy community.

The Italian tournament saw its seventh round end yesterday with the last match between the leader, Milan, and Verona. The Rossoneri, in a rather negative trend in recent weeks, managed to grab a draw, which appeared unexpectedly at a certain point, thanks to the umpteenth goal by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who reached eight goals in just five matches.

The Swedish footballer is proving to be the real ace in the hole of Pioli, despite last night he played a rather mediocre performance, like the rest of the whole team: the defensive instability begins to worry, and the three goals suffered in Europa League by Lille, the surprise of the French league, combined with those of the last round, are causing the Rossoneri supporters to discuss, who had begun to get used to the victory.

Starting from the match with Udinese, won in the last minutes, Milan began to show the first signs of involution. The team, in my opinion, despite its champion (who has just turned 39), is not equipped to run all the way for the Scudetto, but Pioli must be acknowledged for having succeeded, contrary to the poor career results, to reorganize a group making it a team worthy of consideration.

In a crazy league, without a hare, in which eight teams are separated by only five points, and eleven by seven, in the second place it can happen to see an alleged underdog like Sassuolo, one of the three teams (together to Milan and Juventus) still unbeaten. The Emilians, returning from the extraordinary feat of Naples last week, did not go beyond 0-0 in the home match against Udinese, disappointing in terms of play and commitment.

The first place thrown to the wind is the result more of a head failure than a technical one: in a society used to fighting for salvation, being at high altitude can play tricks on the minds of the players, and a pinch of contentment seems to have entered a row of De Zerbi's men.

Napoli and Roma are paired in third place; apart from the aforementioned match against Sassuolo, the Neapolitans seem to be the team that has most impressed so far; without the madness of the missed departure for Turin, the men of Gattuso could probably find themselves now at the top of the table (the match with Juventus was not impossible to win), or in any case closer to the first place, while the Capitoline, who started as outsiders, are slowly growing, rediscovering an excellent Mkhitaryan, author of a hat-trick on the last day on the field of Genoa.

The new Juventus of Andrea Pirlo deserves a separate chapter. The team, rebuilt in the summer in anticipation of difficult years from an economic point of view, relying on a project centered on young players, began the season with ups and downs, although, as the harmony between the players grows, the ideas of the new coach seem to assign a precise identity to the team. In the last round, the Italian champions literally threw away the opportunity to catch second place, making themselves reach from Lazio in the 95th minute, after having played the game with a good personality.

The forecasts for the Turin team seem slightly less obscure than at the beginning of the year, but in any case Juventus remains a creature still to be deciphered.

The great disappointment of this first part of the season, however, remains Inter of Antonio Conte, the only team among those that have not changed their coach, to have started the championship worse than the previous one. The quality of the game is hiding, and the weight of a coach hired with a salary of one million euros a month to bring the group the victory that has been missing for some time seems to start to affect an environment that is very easy to hysteria.

Against Atalanta, the Nerazzurri once again proved too dependent on the good mood of the forwards, but rather short of real game ideas. Antonio Conte, satisfied in all market requests, this year has no more excuses: either his team improves and brings home some trophies or the Salento coach will probably consider as a failure his experience under the Milan Cathedral.

On Atalanta, I prefer not to rush judgments: Gasperini has accustomed us to starts with the handbrake on and to great season finals, once it has managed to create the right amalgam between its ideas and players, while for now the balance of Lazio, one of the main contenders for the Scudetto last season, has appeared rather convoluted this year. Without the incredible injury time of the matches against Torino and Juventus, the biancoazzurri could count on four points less, which would relegate them just above the battle for salvation.

At the bottom of the standings, the negative surprise is Torino, capable of putting together only five points in seven games, perhaps the team with the lowest technical rate in the entire Serie A, together with the newly-promoted Crotone, which resulted in a lackluster 0-0 draw on the last day. Both will need to change gears to straighten a season that has started in a far from a positive way, and my feeling is that the Calabrians have more chances of recovering than the granata, among which I expect the exoneration of mister Giampaolo.

The next round will delight us with a succulent Napoli-Milan, a top challenge that could say more about the actual ambitions of the two teams, while also keeping an eye on an interesting challenge between two revelations like Verona and Sassuolo and the advance on Saturday Juventus-Cagliari.

Il massimo torneo italiano ha visto, con il posticipo tra la capolista Milan ed il Verona, concludersi ieri la sua settima giornata. I rossoneri, in trend piuttosto negativo nelle ultime settimane, sono riusciti ad agguantare un pareggio apparso ad un certo punto insperato grazie all'enensima rete di Zlatan Ibrahimovic, giunto a quota otto segnature in appena cinque incontri disputati.

Lo svedese si sta rivelando il vero asso nella manica di Pioli, nonostante ieri sera abbia disputato una prestazione piuttosto incolore, come del resto un po' tutta la squadra: comincia a preoccupare l'instabilità difensiva, e le tre reti prese in Europa League dal Lille, sorpresa del campionato francese, unite a quelle dell'ultimo turno, cominciano a far storcere il naso ai sostenitori rossoneri, che al primato avevano cominciato a fare la bocca.

A partire dalla gara con l'Udinese, raddrizzata negli ultimi minuti, il Milan ha iniziato a mostrare i primi segni di cedimento. La squadra, a mio parere, nonostante il suo fuoriclasse (che ha però appena compiuto 39 anni), non è attrezzata per correre fino in fondo per lo scudetto, ma va dato atto a Pioli di essere riuscito, contrariamente agli scarsi risultati ottenuti in carriera, a riorganizzare un gruppo rendendolo una squadra credibile.

In un campionato matto, senza una lepre, nel quale otto squadre sono rinchiuse in cinque punti, e ben undici in sette, al secondo posto può capitare di vedere una presunta cenerentola come il Sassuolo, una delle tre squadre (insieme a Milan e Juventus) ancora imbattute. Gli emiliani, reduci dalla straordinaria impresa di Napoli della settimana scorsa, non sono però andati oltre lo 0-0 nella gara casalinga contro l'Udinese, deludendo sul piano del gioco e dell'impegno. Il primo posto buttato al vento è frutto più di un cedimento di testa che tecnico: in una società abituata a lottare per la salvezza, trovarsi ad alta quota può giocare brutti scherzi alle menti dei giocatori, e un pizzico di appagamento sembra essere entrata tra le fila degli uomini di De Zerbi.

Napoli e Roma si trovano appaiate al terzo posto; a parte la già citata gara con il Sassuolo, gli azzurri sembrano la squadra che ha maggiormente impressionato fino a questo momento; senza la follia della mancata partenza per Torino, gli uomini di Gattuso potrebbero probabilmente trovarsi adesso in testa alla classifica (la partita con la Juventus non era impossibile da vincere), o comunque più a ridosso del primo posto, mentre i capitolini, partiti come una sorta di outsider, stanno piano piano ingranando, riscoprendo un ottimo Mkhitaryan, autore di una tripletta nell'ultima giornata sul campo del Genoa.

Capitolo a parte merita la nuova Juventus di Andrea Pirlo. La squadra, ricostruita in estate in previsione di anni difficili sotto un punto di vista economico, affidandosi ad un progetto imperniato sui giovani, ha cominciato la stagione tra alti e bassi, anche se, man mano che l'affiatamento tra i giocatori cresce, le idee del nuovo mister sembrano restituire una identità precisa alla squadra. Nell'ultimo turno i campioni d'Italia hanno buttato letteralmente al vento l'occasione di agganciare il secondo posto, facendosi raggiungere dalla Lazio al 95', dopo aver disputato una partita di buona personalità.
Le previsioni per il team torinese sembrano leggermente meno oscure che ad inizio anno, ma in ogni caso la Juventus rimane una creatura ancora tutta da decifrare.

La grande delusione di questa prima parte di stagione rimane però l'Inter di Antonio Conte, unica squadra tra quelle avulse dal cambio di allenatore, ad aver iniziato il campionato peggio di quello precedente. Il gioco latita, e il peso di un mister ingaggiato con uno stipendio da un milione di euro al mese per portare al gruppo la vittoria che manca da tempo, sembra cominciare ad incidere in un ambiente molto facile agli isterismi. Contro l'Atalanta, i nerazzurri si sono dimostrati ancora una volta troppo dipendenti dalla buona vena degli attaccanti, ma piuttosto a corto di vere idee di gioco. Antonio Conte, accontentato in tutte le richieste di mercato, quest'anno sembra non avere più scuse: o la sua squadra migliora e porta a casa qualcosa, o l'allenatore salentino potrà con buona probabilità considerare come fallimentare la sua esperienza meneghina.

Sull'Atalanta preferisco non affrettare giudizi: Gasperini ci ha abituati a partenze con il freno a mano tirato e a grandi finali di stagione, una volta riuscita a creare la giusta amalgama tra le sue idee e le caratteristiche dei giocatori a disposizione, mentre per ora piuttosto negativo il bilancio della Lazio, una delle principali contendenti per lo scudetto nella scorsa stagione, apparsa piuttosto involuta quest'anno. Senza gli incredibili minuti di recupero delle gare contro Torino e Juventus, i biancazzurri potrebbero contare su ben quattro punti in meno, che li relegherebbe poco sopra la lotta salvezza.

In coda la sorpresa negativa è il Torino, capace di mettere insieme solo cinque punti in sette gare, forse la squadra con minor tasso tecnico di tutta la Serie A, insieme al neopromosso Crotone, che hanno dato vita ad uno scialbo pareggio a reti bianche nell'ultima giornata. Entrambe avranno bisogno di cambiare marcia per raddrizzare una stagione partita in maniera tutt'altro che positiva, e la mia sensazione è che i calabresi abbiano più possibilità di riprendersi rispetto ai granata, tra i quali mi aspetto l'esonero entro breve di mister Giampaolo.

Il prossimo turno ci delizierà con un succuso Napoli-Milan, sfida al vertice che potrebbe dire di più sulle effettive ambizioni delle due squadre, mentre da tenere d'occhio anche un interessante sfida tra due rivelazioni come Verona e Sassuolo e l'anticipo del sabato Juventus-Cagliari.
