Last night ended the fifteenth day, the fourth last of the 2020/21 championship of the Serie A, played entirely on Sunday, January 3. A few weeks before the end of the first half of the season, things are starting to get more and more serious, and it is already possible to draw the first conclusions, while waiting for the direct matches of the next weeks.
Although I'm not changing my mind about Milan, which I think is still an underdog to win the Scudetto compared to Inter, it must be acknowledged that the Rossoneri have passed the umpteenth test of the season, bringing home the result on a not easy field like that of Benevento, in a numerical inferiority for an hour, following the expulsion of Tonali.
Of course, the most mischievous could object that also this time, to the team of Pioli, everything (or almost) went right, starting from the penalty not granted to the hosts for the contact Diaz-Caprari, to the post hit by Insigne and the penalty failed by the same Caprari, without forgetting the monumental saves of Donnarumma, however, the strength of a team is also measured by the ease with which the boat is brought out of the storm, and also in this circumstance the Rossoneri can only be promoted.
On the contrary, in the final it was Milan that had the best chance of rounding off the score, hitting two posts and sealing another clear victory in an extraordinary season. When, out of fifteen matches, eleven are won, thinking that luck has a predominant role starts to become out of place.
The supremacy in the ranking of Inter, committed at home at 12.30 against Crotone, lasted only a few hours. The Nerazzurri overwhelmed with six goals the unfortunate Calabrian team coached by the former Milan player Giovanni Stroppa, despite some too much suffering in the first half, unexpectedly ended on 2-2. The firepower of the attack at the disposal of Antonio Conte, with Lautaro Martinez and Lukaku in a state of grace, is able to overwhelm any opponent, and it is no coincidence that Inter has come to the eighth consecutive victory.

The roster of the team belonging to the Suning Group seems, unless there are changes in the next market, the most complete of the entire Serie A, and without the spring "distractions" of the European cups, it seems difficult to imagine Inter able to get away with winning the Scudetto. At the present moment, the fight for the title seems to be a two-way affair between the two Milanese teams, even if, in third place, Roma, victorious with difficulty over Sampdoria, keeps the distance unchanged, risking, however, to be overtaken by Napoli, that has to recover the contested match with Juventus.
The Neapolitans have brilliantly passed the Cagliari exam, but a bit like what happens to Roma, the too many ups and downs seen so far in the season appear to be the result of important holes in the construction of the "building" rather than randomness dictated by the unpredictability of the ball. For these reasons I think that, if ever a third wheel can be inserted in the fight for the final victory, this can only be Juventus.
The champions of Italy have restarted, after the internal defeat suffered at the hands of Fiorentina (which, for its part, has resumed to show mediocre performances), overwhelming Udinese for 4-1, thanks to another super performance of Cristiano Ronaldo, author of a double and of the assist that sent in goal Federico Chiesa. Today, the Old Lady appears to be the team with the greatest margin for growth (together perhaps only with Atalanta) among all the pretenders to the title, and if Pirlo will be good at giving continuity to his players, I believe that Juve is destined to climb some positions soon and to reenter the battle that counts.
A bit like Atalanta, that in the direct clash between the two teams with the most spectacular game, overwhelmed Sassuolo 5-1, confirming itself as a team destined to come out on top. For budgetary reasons, the managers of the Bergamasque team have always needed to make small revolutions in the summer, selling off the best players to replace them with other young talents found around the world, but this year, with the revenues of the Champions League, Gasperini has been able to count on the same framework as last year, and after the price paid at the beginning for the summer commitments and for the restart of the Champions League, Atalanta is coming back to greatness.
Perhaps the team from Bergamo does not have a roster capable of fighting all the way to the end for the Scudetto, but the freshness of their gameplay, together with the tactical wisdom of a master like Gasperini, make the team capable of beating any adversary, when in a day of grace.
At the bottom of the standings, a very important victory for Torino, who beat Parma** with their first important performance of the season; led by their captain Andrea Belotti, the granata deserved the victory, leading the race where they wanted to for the whole ninety minutes, resisting well to the reaction attempts of the hosts, now at their third consecutive defeat and just one point above the relegation zone, to strike them dead when they were exhausted.
With the home defeat against Verona, also the Spezia, despite the good start, is now part of the group of the third last ones including Genoa, after the home draw against Lazio, and the same Torino FC, able to look at the future with a bit more optimism. Optimism that has been lacking, once again, to Fiorentina, unable to go beyond the 0-0 against Bologna and to follow up the particular external victory obtained before the holidays against Juventus.
I don't think that Cesare Prandelli needs my advice, but perhaps it is good to remind certain circles that victories, obtained against prestigious opponents or against other pretenders to salvation, are all worth three points: beating Juventus is always a result that can open the best bottles, but if for the rest of the season the results are scarce, it is not then such a special feat, as the many Fiorentina fans wanted us to believe, popped up like mushrooms in the newspapers in these two weeks to glorify their heroes.
Attention to the next round, which will be played on the Epiphany, and which foresees the transfer to the home of Sampdoria for Inter, but above all the big match Milan-Juventus, decisive in particular for the bianconeri that could get back in the race for the title in case of victory, but abdicate in an almost definitive way if they meet the second defeat of the season.

Cari amici amanti dello sport,
si è conclusa ieri sera la quindicesima giornata, quartultima del campionato 2020/21 della Serie A, giocata interamente domenica 3 gennaio. Ad un passo dal termine del girone d'andata, le cose cominciano a farsi sempre più serie, ed è già possibile trarre, in attesa dei succulenti scontri diretti delle prossime settimane, le prime conclusioni.
Nonostante non cambi idea sulla capolista Milan, che ritengo ancora sfavorita per la conquista dello scudetto rispetto ai concittadini dell'Inter, bisogna riconoscere che i rossoneri hanno superato l'ennesima prova stagionale, portando a casa il risultato su un campo non facile come quello di Benevento, in inferiorità numerica per un'ora, a seguito dell'espulsione di Tonali.
Certo, i più maligni potrebbero obiettare che anche questa volta alla squadra di Pioli tutto (o quasi) è girato per il verso giusto, a partire dal rigore non concesso ai padroni di casa per il contatto Diaz-Caprari, per arrivare al palo colpito da Insigne e al penalty fallito dallo stesso Caprari, senza dimenticare le monumentali parate di Donnarumma, tuttavia la forza di una squadra si misura anche dalla facilità con cui la barca viene portata fuori dalla tempesta, e anche in questa circostanza i rossoneri non possono che essere promossi.
Anzi, sul finale è stato proprio il Milan ad avere maggiori chances di arrotondare il punteggio, colpendo due legni e suggellando così un'altra vittoria netta di una straordinaria stagione. Quando su quindici partite se ne portano a casa undici, pensare che la fortuna abbia un ruolo predominante forse inizia a diventare fuori luogo.
Il primato dell'Inter, impegnata in casa alle 12.30 contro il Crotone, è durato così solo poche ore. I nerazzurri hanno travolto con sei goal la malcapitata squadra calabrese allenata dall'ex milanista Giovanni Stroppa, nonostante qualche sofferenza di troppo nel primo tempo, terminato inaspettatamente sul 2-2. La potenza di fuoco dell'attacco a disposizione di Antonio Conte, con Lautaro Martinez e Lukaku in stato di grazia, è in grado di travolgere qualunque avversario, e non è un caso che l'Inter sia giunta all'ottava vittoria consecutiva.
La rosa della squadra appartenente al Gruppo Suning appare, a meno di stravolgimenti nel prossimo mercato, la più completa di tutta la Serie A, e senza le "distrazioni" primaverili delle coppe europee appare difficile immaginare un'Inter in grado di farsi scappare la vittoria dello scudetto. Ad oggi la lotta per la conquista del titolo sembra un affare a due tra le due squadre milanesi, anche se al terzo posto tiene il passo la Roma, vittoriosa a fatica sulla Sampdoria, potenzialmente però scavalcata dal Napoli, che ha da recuperare la contestata gara con la Juventus.
I partenopei hanno superato con brillantezza l'esame Cagliari, ma un po' come accade alla Roma, i troppi alti e bassi visti fin qui in stagione appaiono più il frutto di importanti buchi nella costruzione dell'"edificio" che a casualità dettate dall'imprevedibilità del pallone. Per questi motivi ritengo che, se mai un terzo incomodo potrà inserirsi nella lotta per la vittoria finale, questo non potrà che essere la Juventus.
I campioni d'Italia sono ripartiti, dopo la sconfitta interna subita per mano della Fiorentina (che dal canto suo ha ripreso a sciorinare prestazioni mediocri), travolgendo l'Udinese per 4-1, grazie ad un'altra prestazione super di Cristiano Ronaldo, autore di una doppietta e dell'assist che ha mandato in goal Federico Chiesa. La Vecchia Signora appare ad oggi la squadra con il maggior margine di crescita (insieme forse solo dall'Atalanta) tra tutte le pretendenti al titolo, e se Pirlo sarà bravo a dare continuità di gioco ai suoi interpreti credo che la Juve sia destinata a scalare presto alcune posizioni e a reinserirsi nella battaglia che conta.
Un po' come l'Atalanta, che nello scontro diretto tra le due squadre con il gioco più spettacolare, ha travolto il Sassuolo 5-1, confermandosi squadra destinata a venire fuori alla distanza. Per necessità di bilancio gli orobici hanno bisogno da sempre di effettuare delle piccole rivoluzioni in estate, cedendo i pezzi migliori per sostituirli con altri giovani talenti pescati in giro per il mondo, ma quest'anno, con gli introiti della Champions League, Gasperini ha potuto contare sulla stessa ossatura dell'anno scorso, e dopo lo scotto pagato all'inizio per gli impegni estivi e per la ripartenza della Champions League, l'Atalanta sta venendo fuori alla grande.
Forse i bergamaschi non dispongono di una rosa in grado di lottare fino in fondo per lo scudetto, ma la freschezza del loro gioco, unita alla sapienza tattica di un maestro come Gasperini, rendono la Dea squadra in grado di battere qualunque avversario, quando in giornata di grazia.
In coda, importantissima vittoria del Torino, che sbanca il campo del Parma con la prima vera prestazione importante di stagione; trascinato dal proprio capitano Andrea Belotti, i granata hanno meritato la vittoria conducendo la gara dove volevano per tutti i novanta minuti, resistendo bene ai tentativi di reazione dei padroni di casa, giunti alla terza sconfitta consecutiva e ora appena un punto sopra la zona retrocessione, per colpirli a morte quando ormai stremati.
Con la sconfitta casalinga contro il Verona, anche lo Spezia, nonostante il buon avvio, fa ora parte del gruppetto di terzultime comprendente il Genoa, reduce dal pareggio casalingo con la Lazio, e lo stesso Torino, in grado però ora di guardare al futuro con un pizzico di ottimismo in più. Ottimismo che è mancato, ancora una volta, alla Fiorentina, incapace di andare oltre lo 0-0 contro il Bologna e di dare così seguito alla particolare vittoria esterna ottenuta prima delle feste ai danni della Juventus.
Non credo che Cesare Prandelli abbia bisogno dei miei consigli, ma forse è bene ricordare a certi ambienti che le vittorie, ottenute contro avversari di prestigio o contro altre pretendenti alla salvezza, valgono tutte tre punti: battere la Juventus è sempre un risultato in grado di far aprire le bottiglie migliori, ma se per il resto della stagione i risultati scarseggiano, non si tratta poi di un'impresa così speciale, come ci hanno voluto far credere i tanti tifosi della Fiorentina, spuntati fuori come funghi sui giornali in queste due settimane per glorificare i loro eroi.
Attenzione al prossimo turno, che si giocherà il giorno dell'Epifania, e che prevede la trasfera in casa della Sampdoria per l'Inter, ma soprattutto il big match Milan-Juventus, decisivo in particolar modo per i bianconeri che potrebbero rientrare in piena corsa per il titolo in caso di vittoria, ma abdicare in maniera pressoché definitiva qualora andassero incontro alla seconda sconfitta stagionale.
