Siamo nell'area di servizio di un autogrill, precisamente in quella di Boffalora, sopra Ticino, in una giornata di inizio autunno, una di quelle in cui l'estate non e' ancora un lontano ricordo ma da
nord-ovest iniziano ad arrivare folate di maestrale.
L'autista aspettava in macchina, lei era entrata nell'autogrill per una birra ed un Camogli ma il cellulare aveva squillato proprio mentre il barista la stava servendo.

Claudia e' una ricercatrice che, insieme ad uno staff composto da scienziati di mezzo mondo, sta studiando un nuovo farmaco che riuscira' da dare una risposta alla ricerca per debellare la sclerosi
multipla in modo che i malati non debbano piu' svenarsi economicamente per acquistare i farmaci.

I camion sullo sfondo sono stati inviati dalle multinazionali del farmaco, se si scoprisse una cura sarebbe per loro una perdita enorme, questi camion devono, se non si trova un accordo fra lei e chi e' al telefono, cercare di farla fuori.
Non esiste che una piccola scienziata riesca a mettere in ginocchio dei giganti mondiali del farmaco.

Paolo, il bambino di 8 anni di Claudia, e' stato rapito da dei loschi figuri fuori dalla scuola che frequenta, ora e' nelle mani dei rapitori, il cui capo, il croato Stanislaw Kucik, e' ora al telefono con Claudia.
Se lei non distrugge la formula del farmaco il bambino muore e se
questo non bastasse i camion butterebbero fuori strada la sua auto.
Situazione molto complicata.
