Hi, there should be no car traffic most of the times on the EuroVelo routes in most developed west European countries as they try to avoid car traffic as much as possible as per their standards but sometimes when in no other alternative the route is shared but with low traffic and not main national roads. Have a look on their official site https://en.eurovelo.com to discover all the 17 pan-european bike routes. It is safe for kids if the route is a developed EuroVelo route.
