"Contest-feelings on a sad day"
Depression is a common feeling that many people experience at different stages of their lives. It could be a feeling of sadness or experiencing a bad day. Depression causes us to lose interest in everything that we enjoy. It could be caused by something special incident in our life or something beyond our control.
I have two sons, the elder one is married, and the younger one went abroad for higher studies. All these incidents were positive stages for them, but they badly affected my life. I felt lonely as my house was empty without them. I missed my daily attractions, laughter, and even little arguments with them. I could not bear the sudden silence. This change left me feeling unhappy and lonely. It was very difficult for me to adjust to this change, as my role as a mother changed slightly. This incident was the cause of my sadness.
In such moments, I tried to do things that would make me happy or help me relax. Gardening was one of the activities I was engaged in at this time. When I witnessed flowers blooming and vegetables growing, it provided some peace to my mind. Furthermore, I listen to music to relax and forget about my worries for a while. When I engaged in the Steemit platform by creating a blog and sharing my thoughts I forgot my worries. Not only that, but I used to spend time with my four-legged companion to reduce tension. All of these activities keep me busy and give me the chance to forget my worries. So, I could manage my depression to some stage.
When you are experiencing depression, remember that you are not alone. Speak with someone who understands you and express your thoughts with them. This will help you to gain great relief and allow you to make significant changes.
Always keep yourself active with anything you enjoy doing, such as walking, listening to music, gardening, or watching a movie etc. Nature will make you feel much better, so go to a beach, river, park, or outdoor activity. Participating in social activities will provide you with more relief because as you become more involved in those activities and communicate with others, you will forget your worries. That will help you to get rid of that mentality. If the problem remains unchanged, get professional help from a consultant or any other person who is qualified to handle the situation. Remember that depression is a part of your life and will not last forever.

Saludos.

"Wow, what a beautifully written post! 😊 I completely relate to feeling lonely and unhappy when loved ones move away or change their lives in ways that affect us. It's great that you shared your story and how you coped with gardening, music, Steemit, and spending time with your furry friend 🐶. Your tips for managing depression are so helpful and encouraging! 💕 Can I ask, what's been the most surprising benefit of joining Steemit for you? And, have you ever tried any new outdoor activities to lift your spirits? 🌳💚"
Steemit has helped me move away from my monotonous life. It also allows me to continue working with English, so English has become comfortable to me even though I have retired from my office.
You are aware that our mother tongue is Sinhala, hence we do not use English in daily life. After I retired, I would have forgotten English because it was no longer in use. But, thanks to Steemit, I can improve my English and keep it in use.
