No wonder that Steemit is stronger than Hive in traffic, after all, all the articles and traffic from before the fork still leads and is indexed on Steemit (and not on Hive). So, I would guess that search engine traffic is going to Steemit, which would lead to a clear victory for Steemit because of that. But, I am curious to see how things will develop.
Yes, Hive suffers from the duplicate content problem. The search engines know exactly where something was posted first.
