The Diary Game [12/08/2020] Mourning the loss of a family

A couple of days ago I had the painful experience of burying my father, who became ill and worse in the last 45 days. No one in the family expected this sudden death, it has been hard for everyone. With the economic and social situation that Venezuela has been going through for more than a decade, added to the health emergency caused by COVID-19, lack of essential fuel such as gasoline and domestic gas, it is likely that many families are suffering a similar situation.

I was carrying my father's coffin to the municipal holy camp of Maturín - Venezuela.

This morning I woke up late because I fell asleep after 3 am because I had a lot of thoughts that prevented my tranquility and peace of mind to rest my body. I did my usual personal hygiene and then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast and drink a well loaded coffee, free of sugar and sweetener.

I sat down to eat, and as I did so, questions began to pop into my head: What is the food of a deceased person? How often does one feed the soul of someone who has passed away? And this last question made me think carefully, is there light or darkness where souls meet when a person disincarnates?

It never occurred to me to think about these things in such a specific way, so I finished my breakfast and started a search through various websites, regarding the food of the dead I found historical, mystical and religious literature that talks about the preparation of altars full of food and drinks that are offered on a specific day of the year to the souls of loved ones, as a way of sharing with them; many have the belief that non-physical entities make a presence to absorb the aromas and after feeding themselves they leave happily.

I respect this belief of ritual for socializing with souls; however, I don't think I will ever perform it; at least not yet. Then, according to research, the soul would be fed with a frequency of once a year, a day commemorated in some regions and cultures as the Day of the Dead.

It was 1:00 p.m. and I had to go out to the supermarket to buy some food to prepare; I was going to a place where there are several stores that sell food, I bought vegetables, fruit, vegetables and animal meat protein in a smaller proportion for reasons of taste and economic limitation; the total purchase amounted to $18, about 81.8 STEEM, in local currency Bs. 5,166,000.00

In a state where the minimum wage is less than $2, it's a considerable amount; especially for me who didn't get any income from mechanical services because I was taking care of family health issues. Pending honoring the payment obligation with a friend who lent me $20 15 days ago for the purchase of medicines, I went by his house located two kilometers from Los Cortijos, where I made the purchases; I made a partial payment of $7, equivalent to 31.81 STEEM, approximately Bs. 2,009,000.00

During the provision of mechanical services

I owe my friend $13 which is equivalent to 59.09 STEEM, for the date it represents Bs. 3,731,000.00 that I will be paying when I finish repairing the engine of a Hyundai vehicle, Getz model, year 2008, gray color; since I still have to charge $45 of the labor, about 204.54 STEEM.

I prepared lunch and it was ready late, I served the food and after I finished eating with mom and my sister, I preferred to sit in the patio under a leafy mango tree, I did not continue looking for answers on the internet and I began to reflect on whether there is light or darkness in the place where souls meet when a person disincarnates. In a way, I am interested in knowing the well-being of my father's soul in eternity. Many ideas passed through my mind, among them is the conception that the light or darkness of the place depends on the actions that were not identified during the physical life, our way of being and conceiving life at an individual and social level, among other things.

During my stay under the tree I consumed several mangoes and drank plenty of water, so when evening came and night fell, I went to take a shower and then went to bed to continue my thoughts. I found no point in watching any TV or listening to the radio, so I turned off my cell phone and started talking to my sister who was just as distressed. We began to remember anecdotes from our childhood and childhood stage, mischief that ended with the presence of our mother or father with their educational guidance.

How wonderful is family and the love of our loved ones!
