Introduction

Hello everyone🥰. Hope everyone is having a good time. I shall talk about honey🍯 and it’s benefits.

Honey, a sweet, thick, and sumptuous🤤 natural resource, has been used by man since the dawn of time. From its medicinal use to its aesthetic use💅🏾 to its most common use as food, honey has proven to be one of the easiest to go to resources available to humankind.

Honey, rich in Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, calcium, phosphorus, and many more nutrients, is produced by honey bees. These bees, with the aid of their well-developed and adapted mouth parts called suckers, suck nectar from flowers 🌸 and then convert this nectar to honey back in the hive.

Even more interesting is that the colour, smell, and taste of honey depend on the flower the nectar was gotten. As such, there are slight differences in types of honey as there are different types of flowers.

Some of the well-acclaimed benefits of honey include:

1. Nutritional value:
Honey contains a couple of nutrients. Most of the honey content is antioxidants and bioactive plant compounds. A tablespoon of honey contains approximately 17g of sugar( sucrose, maltose, glucose, and fructose) and 64 calories. Trace vitamins and minerals are found in it with barely any fibre, fat, or protein.

2.Antioxidants:
Being high in antioxidants has made honey a good agent that helps decrease the risk of heart attacks, stroke, and some types of cancer.

3. Better for diabetes:
As compared to refined sugar, despite slightly increasing blood sugar, honey is preferable for people with diabetes type II.

4. Lower Blood Pressure:
Honey has also been proven to help lower blood pressure.

5. Lowers cholesterol:
Honey reduces the quantity of bad cholesterol (low-density lipoproteins) and increases good cholesterol (high-density lipoproteins), thereby decreasing the risk for cardiovascular diseases.

6. Honey is very beneficial to burn and wound healing.
Many people don’t know this, but I can testify to this as I have used honey on a burn patient of mine and the healing rate was very impressive. Honey does this through its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to nourish nearby tissue.

7. Good for coughs:
Honey has also been proven to be great at getting rid of coughs and sore throats.

8. Makes your skin glow:
Almost all of us have heard of honey scrubs. This is because honey is very good at nourishing skin and making it glow.

9. Nourishes hair:
Just as honey nourishes skin, it also nourishes hair and makes it look healthier and shinier. My natural hair enthusiasts, this one is for you.

10. Good food:
Honey is delicious and can be used on almost any kind of food depending on your taste.
