Steemit Engagement Challenge S5w5: My values
Introduction
Welcome to my blog. I am so excited to take part in this week's engagement challenge. And the topic is so much of interest to me. This is one of the topics I can't miss writing about because we all have things that we value, though our values differs.
At this point, I will be defining the meaning of values in my own way.
What values mean to me.
To me, value means something desirable. That thing that you cherish and always desire to do it. Value means those things that I can't let go, those things that I see as important and wouldn't trade it for something else.
Why are values important in society?
Values are important to the society because it helps in reflecting our sense of right and wrong. It is important because it will serve us as a guide in order not to get involves in those things that are not valued in the society today. Our values shapes our day to day decisions and as such if everyone has good values, our society will be a better place.
Values is important because its promote growth and development.
Whatt do you consider to be the values that define you?
Since values are those important things that I believes in and treat as important. There are alot of things that I considered to be the values that defines me. Below are some of them.
- My Spirituality
- Hardwork
- Fairness
- Respect
- Caring
Spirituality
I am committed to working according to my Christian rules and principles. I do not joke with my Spirituality. I make sure I put it first in all my endeavours and then other things follows.
How do I achieve this?. Before engaging in any activity when the day breaks, I first of all consult my creator by reading his word the bible and praying to him for guidance and protection.
This particular value has shape my thinking, my relationship with people and the way I handle matters.
Hardwork
If there is another thing I cherish is hardwork. Life is hard in the world we are living in and as such one needs to work hard to earn a living. I don't see hardwork as a burden, i see it as something I should do and I do it with all pressure. I don't hesitate to take any side hustle couple with my main job. How do I do this?
I work as a school teacher and to have more income to support myself amd my extended family, I engage in other side hustles like selling of fabrics and Perfumes fragrance. I do it with all joy knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Fairness
I try as much as I can not to take advantage of other people. I treat them the same way I would have love to be treated.
Respect
I try to respect others as much as I could. I also remember the golden rule and the saying that 'respect is reciprocal'. I dont impose my view on others as I will not like it if others try to do that to me. I respect people's views and opinions.
Caring
I try to be compassionate and show that I care.
I give generously especially when it is within my reach.
In what circumstances of your day do you apply them?
Having expatiate some of my values above, I applied them in different aspect of live. I dont joke with my Spiritual activities. I respect other people. I don't easily take offence even when I have the reason to do so. Talking about caring, I share what I have with others and also consider how they will feel before telling them about certain things.
What are the anti-values that you have witnessed the most?
They are alot of anti values around me and some of them are:- Dishonesty, untrustworthy, Laziness, lack of respect and so on.
Do you think value change or go out of style?
Some values do change but not all. Some values change because of time and places. What I valued as a child may not really be my core value as an adult. But the truth is that there are still some values that can not be changed.
Conclusion
It is true that vlaues can define a person. Our values can contribute positively or negatively to the society, so we must choose the things we value wisely, do away with the ones that have negative effect and stick to values that contribute to the growth of the society.
I am glad, I have been able to share my view about values in this great platform.

Defintivamente, si la sociedad entera praticara los valores, el mundo sería un lugar mucho mejor.
Por ello los scouts, siempre buscamos dejar el mundo en mejores condiciones de como lo encontramos. El fortalecer lo svalores pro medio de la práctica diaria es el mejor modelo de conducta que podemos tener, siendo ejemplo par a los más jóvenes.
