Hi Steemians,
I am honored to participate in the second final contest of this tenth season of the Steemit Engagement Challenge organized by the Scouts y sus Amigos Community, which addresses a theme called "My Languages", a subject that aims to give us a hand to talk about our skills linguistics read, written and spoken. I wish you a good reading!
How many languages do you speak? Which of them is the native and which ones have you studied? And what methods have you used to learn other languages?
I speak four languages but I don't have the same level in all of them.
The Tunisian dialect is because I am Tunisian, in addition to classical Arabic, that we begin to learn in kindergarten, that is to say before primary school. I have been fascinated by it since childhood while reading and composing stories, writing my diaries, watching cartoons, and conversing with my family members and classmates.
French, which is officially learned from the third year of primary school, that is to say from the age of eight. I loved this language since I was a child, and although I was not always lucky enough to have a good teacher, I relied on composing comic stories at my modest level in elementary and high school. college, then I started to write my memoirs, which improved my level even more in secondary school.
English and we begin to learn it officially since the sixth year of primary school. I didn't have a good teacher in my first year, so my mother taught me herself, since she is an expert. My level deteriorated in middle school until I was in my second year of high school, which was in 2002. That year, I became obsessed with Kpop culture, and started to watch video interviews and follow the news of the artists by reading subtitles. From there, I met people from all over the world on the Facebook page who had the same interest, and started to engage in dialogues and discussions with them. When I passed the high school certificate exam, I chose English as my major in college and now I am doing well and will graduate next year.
German: In the third year of high school, they give us a list of optional subjects (foreign language, fine arts, music) and we have to choose one subject among them. I chose the German language even though they said it was very difficult and I loved it and studied it hard. I am still at an average level because of my lack of correct pronunciation and the dryness of my lexical field. It should be re-watered during the summer holidays.
My dream is to master all these languages as my mother tongue.
In addition to the ones you already speak, what other language would you like to learn?
Spanish.
It's been two years since I started taking an interest in Spanish. I started with the Duolingo app, which is useful for quickly learning the basics and believing that you can easily learn the language.
But I found it wasn't very useful very quickly, mainly because there weren't a lot of lessons or context for the discussion. So I switched to Babel (paid). It therefore had the advantage of having sessions organized in the context of the discussion and by topic. Once I got the basics down, I needed a more realistic scenario. I went to Madrid in the summer of 2012 for 15 days and fell even more in love with the language, the culture, the welcome and the city. In the end I wanted to extend my stay but alas.
I always struggle to get from the basics to the intermediate level. So I plan to return very soon to Spain.
What do you consider to be the most difficult thing about learning another language?
It is not easy to learn any new language because any language, whatever it is, needs great effort, patience, follow-up and daily practice, especially German, because this language itself contains long words and needs a lot of memorization. It is very important to memorize the word with its tool because the language contains three Masculine, feminine, and neuter tools, and what we consider feminine in our mother tongue, such as the word Das Mädchen, which means girl. It is considered feminine in Arabic, but in German it is not feminine. Rather, it is neuter. The tool is very important because it is relied upon later to understand the Grammatik = the grammatical rules of the language.
Verbs must be memorized with their conjugations and tenses. At the advanced levels, there are special prepositions for each verb. Every verb must be memorized with its own preposition, and every preposition comes after a certain inflectional case, and there are also adjectives with a certain preposition, and so on.
Why do you think it is important to master several languages?
The first obvious advantage is being able to communicate with foreigners, whether at home or if you are traveling in their country. It is even an essential ability in certain professions, such as commerce.
The second is that learning a language is not only learning a way of communicating, it is also learning to think in a different way, by being immersed in a new culture, with references and attitudes different from yours. , so it's a way to broaden your culture and your thinking.
At a time when many people - and countries - are tempted to become inward-looking and build walls - whether of concrete or paper - around themselves, learning other languages could be beneficial therapy!
Thank you very much for reading, it's time to invite my friends @o1eh, @franyeligonzalez, @irawandedy to participate in this contest.
Best Regards,

Wooaaoo amigo ud es todo un linguista y eso es admirable para mi porque se que no es fácil pode dominar cuatro idiomas, aunque gran parte del secreto esta en cuanto nos guste. Me encantaría aprender francés, me parece tan interesante y por supuesto, dominar el ingles a la perfección; le interesaría darme clases gratis? (risas); es broma amigo amigo, es broma no se me asuste (mas risas). Exitos en su excelente entrada, saludos cordiales!!
Thank you dear for this nice comment, I have no problem giving you French lessons but it will be reciprocal because I also want to study Spanish which you do perfectly I think, in this way we all benefit.
Your multilingual abilities are impressive! It's fascinating to see how your language skills developed over time, starting with the Tunisian dialect and classical Arabic in your early years. French became a passion for you, despite occasional challenges with teachers, and you honed your skills through storytelling and writing. Your journey with English took an exciting turn through your interest in Kpop, leading you to engage with an international community and further enhance your proficiency. Finally, you chose German as an optional subject and embraced the challenge with determination. Your commitment to improving your pronunciation and expanding your vocabulary is commendable. Keep up the excellent work, and enjoy recharging your language skills during the summer holidays!
Thank you for saying everything in this comment about my language skills, yes I will take your advice into account to take advantage of this summer to improve my knowledge of Spanish since Steemit has many users who are proficient in this language. Thanks for coming and commenting my friend.
From reading so many posts English seems to be a generally accepted language, and you are educated in English as well as German.
My daughter chose German as a third language in her sixth grade and found it very difficult and boring to learn the language, however, she learned some pronunciation vocabulary by watching German speakers on YouTube.
Yes absolutely right, like any other foreign language, not easy. Especially with those separable verbs (what fun!). Take a look at Deutsche Welle on the web. A very good starting point.
Arabic is very comprehensive language It is very politely language I love to listen Quran majeeb , best of luck for contest
You are lucky if you understand the Arabic language especially to understand the semantics of the verses in the Quran. Thanks for commenting on my post.
Saludos @kouba01.
Woow me parece genial que puedas entender y hablar cuatro idiomas, siempre he dicho que es una gran ventaja cuando estos idiomas se comienzan a practicar desde la infancia, siento que esto es una gran ventaja.
Ademas, te has interesando por entender y practicar el idioma español lo cual me parece muy interesante porque muestra que eres una persona que no se conforma y siempre esta en la búsqueda de aprender mas.
La determinación del estatus del club se refiere a la https://steemworld.org/transfer-search aplicación basada en la web.
Thank you for the evaluation.
I'll join the club! I also had German at school, but yah, never continued with it. Today, I wish I did.
A language reaches so much further than just the words. It is the sounds, the culture, and the people behind it that make it so much more interesting.
Good luck with the contest!
Indeed, learning languages means for me first and foremost openness to the culture of the other. Language is a means by which you can know how the country or society whose language you are about to acquire lives. I also like the diversification of languages for the love of change. Thanks for the comment my friend.
You are welcome! ( ˙灬˙ )
