My favorite celebration of the year

Living as an Indonesian citizen with the majority of its people embracing Islam is something I and other Indonesian Muslim community are grateful for. Like other Muslim communities around the world, the celebration religious holidays that we go through and celebrate is a very special day.

Photos of my family celebrating Eid

For those of us who are Muslims in a year, there are two big days that we always celebrate with great joy, something that is waited and celebrated together. That is Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. Which is generally marked by Muslim communities around the world, with the exact provisions and sometimes filled by the traditions of each region. The celebration of two holidays in a year is filled with several obligations and Sunnah has celebrated it. Some of the activities carried out during the celebration of this religious holiday include :

  1. In the evening before Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are celebrated, almost all mosques in cities and villages will perform Takbir together, there are even people who Takbir around cities and villages.
  2. In the morning all Muslims will pray Eid Al-Id, either Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha.
  3. The next activity is shaking hands or forgiving with family. Continue by staying in touch with neighbors and other communities. Some people visit the graves of their relatives, to clean and pray.
  4. If Eid al-Adha then proceeds with cutting sacrificial animals, to be distributed to brothers and sisters who are less able.
  5. For those who work outside the city, returning to their hometown is a tradition that is always done when the holiday arrives.

My photo during the slaughter of sacrificial animals

For every Muslim, these two great days have the meaning of a command from Allah SWT, and both have a very high value. Eid al-Fitr which coincides with the 1st of Shawwal Hijri year is interpreted as a day to victory, it is caused one month before the 1st of Shawwal is celebrated. Muslims first observe fasting or refrain from eating and drinking at a certain time for 29 to 30 days. As a form of cleansing themselves from lust, and as a way to improve their creed and morals as Muslims.

My photo when breaking the fast together ahead of Eid al-Fitr

While Eid al-Adha is a holiday when Muslims perform Hajj, and this celebration falls on the 10-13 Dhul-Hijjah Hijri year. The celebration of Eid al-Adha is also accompanied by the slaughter of sacrificial animals such as cows, goats, or camels for the able-bodied community. Later the meat of the slaughtered animal will be distributed to the less fortunate brothers and sisters so that it can be enjoyed together with their families. This holiday is identical to the attitude of sacrifice and sharing with others, as a form of obedience and obedience to the commands of Allah SWT.

Me and my family and maybe all Muslims around the world, celebrate these two great religious holidays every year. The celebration is done with family and people we love, as well as filled with other social activities such as staying in touch or visiting other communities.

There are many unique traditions carried out in each region to celebrate the holiday, all done by the provisions and obligations. The end of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha has a message and deep meaning for us Muslims, not only as a form of a religious order but also as a time to strengthen relations between one Muslim and another.

But some things are unique and become a common tradition when celebrating Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha that may only exist in Indonesia, some of these things are :

  1. Homecoming which is a tradition in which all those who wander or work far from their place of Origin will travel back to their place of origin, for a feast day with their families.
  2. Ketupat which is a food made from rice wrapped in palm leaves woven cube-shaped, this food is typical in preparation for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
  3. Lebaran cake is a set of pastries that have been provided a few days before the feast, this cake will be served to the guests who visit.
  4. THR stands for holiday allowance, but this money is not money given from the office where someone works. However, this money is money with a small nominal that is deliberately provided for the children, either relatives or anyone, this money is given as pocket money which is generally distributed to children.
  5. New clothes, are a habit of Indonesian people during the feast. Where almost everyone will wear new clothes as a symbol of gratitude for the favors that have been given by Allah SWT, to be able to meet the feast as a form of joy

In the end, the celebration of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha is always celebrated with joy, both in terms of meaning and tradition, so that it becomes a big day that is awaited by millions of Indonesians and even the world.

I invited @itikna09, @miftahulrizky and @chopper46 to participate. Finally I say many thanks, respect for community leaders.

Hola amigo @fantvwiki
