STEEMIT IRON CHEF ACT 2 ROUND 02 : Fried Chicken
Greetings Steemit Iron Chefs,
Recalling my childhood memories always reminds me of fried chicken. Flavorsome, crispy, and juicy taste is so enjoyable. I demanded fried chicken almost every day and I was almost granted because I was a good boy then and favorite by my mother. Perhaps, it is still one of my favorites. So today, I'm going to make my childhood and all-time favorite fried chicken recipe.
Ingredients | Quantity |
---|---|
1 whole chicken | 450grams |
Cooking Oil | 1 liter |
Egg | 1 |
Flour | 1/2 cup |
Salt | 1teaspoon |
Pepper Powder | 1 teaspoon |
Spicy Powder | 1 teaspoon |
Garlic Powder | 1 teaspoon |
Procedures:
- Wash the chicken and dry. Slice the center ( breast ) to make sure that no moisture can builds up.
- Rub the chicken with salt and all the spices and refregirate for 5 hours.
- Mix the egg and four to make a batter and coat the whole chicken.
- After 5 hours heat the oil in a deep pot.
- When the oil is ready reduce the heat to medium range and fry the chicken for 5 minutes on both sides and let it cool for an hour.
Notes:Cooling the the fried chicken let the moisture evaporates and doing the second fry makes the chicken extra-crispy.
- Fry the chicken again and done.
- Slice and serve with catsup.
The process is quite long but it's worth it. Cooking delicious food is not an instant or a shortcut. It is like life, it took patience and perseverance to taste the best of success.
