INTRODUCTION

My special greetings goes to all wonderful chefs of this community and welcome to my thoughts on steemit engagement challenge S13w3 entitled colour in food.

I'm delighted to participate in this contests because color of food increase or decrease human appetite. I'm also fascinated by this theme, because,it is interesting to understand our subconscious and how we react by the color we see. Most people including myself are aware of how much colour of food can influence the consumer's interest.

What is the most used color in your meals?

Looking around the world,it filled with Green and yellow color of food and lt turn to be the best colors for my meals.

Here in South Africa, we love cooking vegatable leaf that are green and we use it to prepare different traditional delicacies, most of this green leaf can't escape my pot every week while cooking for our family members.
We also have those ones we sprinkle on our different delicacies such as curry leaf,scent leaf,white bitter leaf, lot more and the one we called in our local dialect...Utasi leave ( as called in Ibibio language).

Curry leaf and other green leaves has a lovable, aroma,great taste and beautiful colour in our meals.l cherish them all because their greatness in health benefits.

Do you consider that colors in foods represent nutrition?

Is 100% true and I realized that nutrient are substance found in food which helps us to grow and survive. Most of vegetables use in the kitchen are rich in vitamins, mineral, fiber and antioxidants which serve as immune boosters.
Fruit and vegatable get their coloration from phytochemicals natural bioactive compound which give them eye catching color and admirations.

What is your favorite color in food?

As l mentioned earlier,lt is yellow and green.

Green is the main colour associated with being fresh, healthy, natural and vegetarian which symbolises good health and well-being.Talking about yellow, l realize that is the fastest color to be processed by human brain and it is an appetite stimulants, making it feel optimistic. Even children are always attracted to this two colors when properly combined in food.

Now our days, l notice that any time we eat like some white soup our kids will just be looking at food and start making trouble, not touching even the plate, which means she is not attracted to it, but any time l prepare our traditional delicacies like banana or yam porridge with enough vegetables and red oil, they will not allow the plate to rest, meaning that children love green colour and are always attracted to them.

Shows a meal from the menu of the day and the colors in it.

Welcome to my menu of the day,l have one of our favourite local Delicacies called Ekpang nkwukwo.This meal made up of water yam,cocoyam,leave, fish and periwinkle and other seasoning item.
This is one of my favourite meal because it contains a lot that build up our immune system.

Do you know that cocoyam contain anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant compound that reduces inflammation and protect our body against chronic disease such as hearth disease cancer, arthritis?

The high fibre content in cocoyam aid weight management and over eating by keeping us on feeling full and satisfied after meal.

Cocoyam has a better nutritional health qualities that other roof and tube crops such as yam and cassava,it comes high protein, mineral and vitamin content depending on how an individual prepare it.

There is a saying: "we are what we eat",l strongly believe in this few words because, lf we eat healthy balance meal,it will show in our body, promoting good health,low exposure to disease, adgile physical and emotional appearance.

Tienes toda la razón, con respecto a los colores de los alimentos. Los niños y uno como adulto, también es atraído por la presentación de la comida y si está full color es apetecible.

El cocoyam, me encantó mucho y si sirve para la artritis más, porque yo padezco de esta enfermedad.

Hola amiga.
Veo que en Nigeria disfrutan mucho de la comida natural que se cultiva de la tierra. Estás sin duda contienen más nutrientes que nos ayudan a estar fuertes y sanos.
La comida que aman tus hijos no solo tiene buen color sino que al paladar debe ser una explosión de sabores por eso lo disfrutan.
Y es verdad 'somos lo que comemos
Si estamos mal alimentado o consumimos solo alimentos sin nutrientes hasta nuestra piel lo refleja.
