There is no set rule how prizes can be transferred. It is preferred to do it via SP but it is not a rule. If you look at my account you will see that I do both. I give STEEM and SP as prizes.

Plus, there doesn't seem to be any guidance stating that transferring rewards for charity purposes shouldn't impact the club criteria.

The best advice I give moderators is to double check on Steemworld.org. It still stays the best way to check club status.
I also use https://steemtools.azurewebsites.net/ for quick reference. What I love about it is that I can do a quick click from this application to Steemtools just to double check.

Lastly, when I do find a user , like our friend here, I advice them to add a post summary to the bottom of their posts. It will make our work easier.
