One Picture And One Story Week #42: Jama Masjid
What I am presenting here is India's largest mosque, Jama Masjid, which I think is a must-visit among the other tourist attractions in Delhi.
The building in this image is the world-famous mosque Jama Masjid in the Chandni Chowk area of the Indian capital, Delhi. I took this image on a Sunday of this great mosque, Jama Masjid. I think this image is from an entirely different angle than what you find online.

This place usually has limited visitors on weekdays, but Fridays are different when thousands of people gather to offer Friday prayer. Incidentally, the mosque has a capacity of 25000 people, but a lot more devotees gather outside wherever they find a place.
This grand mosque was one of the most beautiful structures created by the Mughal ruler Shahjahan. Incidentally, Shahjahan was the one who constructed many beautiful buildings in India, including Tajmahal, and this is one of them. People from all sects visit this place, no matter what religion, but it can accommodate 25,000 devotees on special prayer days like Eid and Fridays.
In fact, I was part of a group of my friends inside the mosque, and yes, this picture is from my collection when I was in India in 2017 for a few months.
I will give you the beauty of the mosque in this post and what this mosque offers in abundance, especially some exterior design and structural beauty. Once again, this mosque is made of red sandstone and marble for the floor.
The mosque is built right in the city center of Delhi, so you can watch the entire city standing on its wide outer walls! The mosque is constructed on an elevated platform spread over a very large land area.
Although I have to give you only one picture in this post, I have a large collection of these great places I took inside and outside, which are as amazing as this one. I hope you enjoyed my humble effort.

I believe Shah Jahan's reign is considered the golden age of Mughal architecture. This Jama Masjid and the Taj Mahal are living proofs of this.
There is a long list of buildings constructed during the Moghul era and most of them have a history. All are beautiful and the center of attraction for tourists coming from different parts of the world. Thanks for your visit.
I am from Indonesia, and only know the Taj Mahal mosque in India with its beautiful and famous building structure. Thank you for your publication, finally I have increased my knowledge
Tajmahal is known as a building that was constructed by Shahjahan as a symbol of love for his wife but once she died, she was worried in the basement of Tajmahal. India is one of the oldest and mixture of cultures here we have thousands of buildings that attract tourists from different parts of the world for example Qutubminar.
I have heard many stories from you, Thank you very much 🥰
As a tourist, let’s say you are a Christian, will they permit you to take a stroll around the premises to see the beauty of the mosque,??
There is no restriction in this building but anyone can go. There are certain areas where tourists can go with a ticket barring on Fridays which attracts a large number of devotees to offer their prayers.
