My sincere thanks to @steemit-turkiye for organizing this contest. I like to share my holiday memories from 2017. After the Chandrasila trek at Uttarakhand, we visited Agra to view the famous Tajmahal. It was a marvelous experience.

The Tajmahal

We entered Tajmahal at early morning as we stayed very near to the entry gate. The monument was looking marvelous at the first light of the dawn.

Tajmahal was established by Mughal emperor Shahjahan in memory of his loving wife Mumtazmahal. The entire monument is created with white marble stone. It is now being maintained by the Archeological Survey of India.

Tajmahal is one of the seven wonders in the world. Tourists from all over the world visit Agra to witness the architectural marvel. It is considered as the symbol of love.

There are graves of Mumtazmahal and Shahjahan inside the memorial. The entire holy Quran is written in the memorial by calligraphy

To visit Tajmahal, international travelers need to fly to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) at New Delhi. Agra can be reached by domestic flight / by train / by road from New Delhi. There are many hotels in Agra of different budget and travellers can choose accordingly. We stayed at Hotel Taj Khema - maintained by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC). This hotel is at a distance of 50 meter from Tajmahal East gate.

Tajmahal remains open Saturday to Thursday from sunrise to sunset.
