Steemit Engagement Challenge S11/W4 - How is democracy functioning in your country?@usuf
#Steemit Stale 🙋♂️Hello. How are you all
I am Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury. My #steemit username is @usuf.
I joined #steemit from #Bangladesh 🇧🇩 to share with you about my country's culture, history, traditions, food habits, my daily work, Likes Dislikes, Memories, My Hobbies etc.
In 1971, we gained independence in exchange of 3 million martyrs in a bloody nine-month long war. On 16th December 1972, the constitution of Bangladesh was enacted and it was said that Bangladesh is a democratic country. Supreme law of Bangladesh or a written document. Here people's freedom of speech, freedom of movement, voting rights, independent judiciary are talked about. But since the independence of Bangladesh, every government has taken away the freedom of speech and voting rights of the people. The current condition of Bangladesh is worse. so, I can say that our country remains democratic on paper.
Our country was never free from domination. In every election the ruling party gains influence. Therefore, in 1996, the theoretical government was formed to conduct impartial elections. After winning the 2014 elections, the ruling party amended the constitution and abolished the theoretical government. The results of the 2018 elections demonstrate how much the ruling party controls. When I went to vote for the first time in my life in the 2018 national election, employees from the governing party informed me that voting had ended at night and that I should go home since I didn't have to vote.
Food has never been self-sufficient in Bangladesh since independence. To keep healthy, every nation requires nutritious food. To fulfill population food demands, Bangladesh imports a lot of food each year. Bangladesh does not produce enough sustenance to be self-sufficient.
Bangladesh's unemployment rate rises daily. One cause is a lack of youth jobs. Every year in our country, thousands of young people finish graduation. Youth unemployment has been called the biggest problem for the economy by many different strategies. So, in 2017, the government of our country passed the National Youth Policy to help young people find jobs.
We have consistently demonstrated that we are a country of heroes. Because of that bravery, we gained independence in 71 in exchange for nine months of bloody war. Gaining independence is marked as our greatest achievement. The main goal of the war of independence was to eliminate discrimination and free the Bengali nation from exploitation. But that goal has not been achieved due to corruption.
All achievements seem futile today due to corruption and exploitation. So I want to see my nation free of corruption, with freedom of expression and the right to vote. I want an impartial court that is free of bias. I want Bangladesh to become a democratic country in real sense and not just a democratic country on paper.

Thank you very much for reading the post and giving such a nice opinion
!invest_vote
Bangladesh started the independence war to escape from exploitation. And 70% to 80% of Bangladesh are Muslims.
