Hello friends!!

How time flies.. already in week 3 wow! Am glad to put my entry this week because it seem to me like feedback and I love it.

What was Steemit like before the SEC?

Oh this question brings back memories, old memories I have of steemit. Before Steemit engagement challenge, steemit had other activities to keep users busy. I will name a few.

Crypto academy lectures and Assignment

The crypto academy community was solely responsible for hosting this. They had professors who taught on crypto courses and gave assignment after each lectures. Students are to read through the lectures and make research to answer the questions asked afterwards. Students are graded or scored then 01 or 02 comes to vote on posts..

Back in those days I met crypto academy lectures but I had no understanding about crypto so I began to learn and gradually I understood what it was about. I began getting involved with the lectures and Assignment, I made some good grades and was supported.

It was really fun learning and earning at the same time from the academy. I wished it never stopped.

Communities of the month support programs

This was another initiative that was there before the steemit engagement challenge. It was an initiative where communities are chosen every month to receive support from the big accounts like 01 and 02.

In that month, 01 and 02 goes round in the the chosen communities looking for quality contents to support. Also the community admins have a responsibility of selecting 5 uses daily that would be supported by 01 and 02.

Users are to make post in any of the chosen communities in that month and get involved with happening around the community.

I really enjoyed this initiative because I also benefitted greatest from it. My post was often voted by 01 even when it was not one of those selected for the day.

Less engagement on users post

Yes before the steemit engagement challenge was initiated. We had alot of users who were not interested in engaging with other users through comments on posts. Back then you could see a very good post lacking comments or users vote.

But I think one of the ideas of the initiative was to establish and foster engagement between users because steemit is regarded as a social media, if so then users should be able to socialize with themselves through comments and votes.

The changes I have noticed following steemit Engagement Challenge are huge.

First I noticed that the interest of users came back alive again because they were encourage by supports gotten on their post and by the topics they wrote about. Before SEC, along the line users began to loose interest due to the fact that so many users left the platform and steem price went down. But with the SEC initiative users got motivation back.

Another thing I noticed with the SEC initiative is that it brought about rise in interaction between users on the post or publication which was not there before. Now you can see a post having more than 20 comments. This is amazing!

Next is the right competition between users to be at the top 3 for the week. Enthusiasm is brought back and you could see users competing to beat the chat on a weekly basis.

Another is the increase in Quality contents. There are markdown styles I never saw back in the days but I see them now because users one to be better and best to put them at the lane of becoming winners. So they improve their contents to become the best.

How many of the seven weekly challenges can you participate in each week?

When Steemit engagement challenge started I could participate in all the 7 challenges in the 7 communities but my participation reduced because I got involved with other activities.

Lately I can participate in 3-5 challenges depending on how the topic of the challenge is for me. If it's seem easy or practical for me then I do not mind getting involved in all the 7 challenges.

So basically my participation depends on the kind of topic given and how free or busy I am for the week to get involved. I am an mod in 2 communities and one is presently one of the hosting communities for steemit engagement challenge, so I spend my time working in the community to verify post. Also in the just ended season 12 my other community was also the host. So this really gave me a slow vibe to participate more in writing.

How does the SEC change your personnel interests and involvement on Steemit?

Well Steemit engagement challenge has helped me in no small way because my interest has been broadened likewise my involvement. There are communities that ordinarily I didn't even know existed on Steemit talk more of writing there. But as we speak I know know alot of communities on Steemit and I get involved there in the engagement challenge and even when the season is over I get involved in their weekly contest.

Also, personally before the steemit engagement challenge, there were just some type of publication you would always see on my blog like diary post and maybe some motivation post and that will be all but now my scope has enlarged, you could see all manner of topics on my blog because of the steemit engagement challenge. Am no longer restricted to just a few topics of interest.
