"Steemit Engagement Challenge S6/W6 - What will you do to celebrate the New Year in 2023, and how do you typically do that each year?"
Hello Everyone. I am @msharif
From #Bangladesh
Hello friends how are you all? Hope everyone is well. I am very well with all your prayers. New Year means the beginning of festivities. Because when the new year starts I always try to celebrate it in different ways. And I am very excited to write about that topic in the contest today. That is why I first want to thank Hind Whale Community for organizing such a timely contest.
For me, New Year is a day of great joy. We Bengalis usually celebrate two new years. One is English New Year and the other is Bengali New Year. I usually celebrate these two new years with family and friends. Every year during New Year I have some plans with my friends as well as my family. We celebrate by doing something routine. On New Year's Day night I usually have a lot of fun with friends and spend time with family after work.
Usually eating, drinking together with everyone, hanging out with friends playing badminton at night. I like it very much and it is very nice to walk around the city at night as the city is very beautiful at night.
Earlier I said that New Year is celebrated twice in our country, one is Bengali New Year and the other is English New Year. Especially during Bengali New Years we celebrate many times by wearing traditional Bengali clothes. Boys wear Punjabi and girls wear sarees. Everyone goes to different places. And socially there are some events and cultural events. And this is how everyone celebrates Bengali New Year in a very beautiful way and so do we.
And during the English New Year, many bets are made on the thirteenth night, everyone blows fanush, the whole city is decorated very beautifully, especially the public and private institutions are decorated very beautifully. And socially there are some events and cultural events. All in all we celebrate that day in a very beautiful way.
During Bengali New Years we usually like to eat traditional foods of Bangladesh. This includes our national fish hilsa with panta rice. There are also different types of fillings. These are what we eat in the morning to basically start our New Year's Day.
And during English New Year we usually cook khichuri or biryani which we all cook the night before and eat together. Actually eating and drinking is not a big thing, I think it is a big thing to enjoy together and spend some time together.
Every office, court and educational institution in our country is beautifully decorated during the New Year celebrations. Especially at night when we go out for a walk we are really surprised because everything is arranged so beautifully that we love to see it.
And those who are very nice, they decorate their house very nicely. The clubs in the area are very well organized. And it looks really beautiful at night when everything is lit up. I really like glittery things so I always try to go out and enjoy these decorations at night during New Year.
I am sharing with you the last time I was blowing lanterns at night during New Year. And went out while sharing some of the pictures I took of the day and some of the night.

By reading your blog, I learned that you also have two new years as ours. We also have two, one is Sinhala and Tamil new year, which is celebrated by only Sinhala and Tamil communities. But English new year celebrated by all Sri Lankans. Thanks for sharing the ritual ways of celebrating new year.
You have added to my insight about the culture in your country. Good post. Good luck for the contest. 🥰🥰🥰
